My Bird Sketch — My Shake Up
In response to July Weeds & Wildflowers Prompt

I finally did it! I responded to Dennett’s July prompt.
I keep my pencil and a booklet of sketch paper close to me, but they are normally for sketching my Ikebana ideas. Before I do Ikebana demonstrations, I first sketch the flower vase I plan to use, then add lines and rough figures of the flowers I plan to use.
Using the same pencil and the sketchbook, it’s time to sketch a bird… When was the last time I drew a bird? Or have I done it ever before? Maybe not. Without Dennett’s prompt this month, I would have never even imagined doing it for myself!
Will I ever do it again? Maybe not. All the more, I thank Dennett for giving me an opportunity to do something new.
While drawing, some philosophical idea like below has come to my mind.
I try to copy exactly the way the photo of Christine Morris Ph.D. looks.
I try to replicate as real as possible. Then I realize, that every single line I draw is an illusion. That’s only how I look with my eyes. In reality, the bird doesn’t have such lines on its body.
What I see with my eyes as real, is only an illusion. I can never be free from illusion…
Drawing has given me another shake-up to my thoughts.
