My Best Friend is My Soulmate
The soul-deep connection of true friendship
When I used to think about soulmates, I imagined the love of my life, my romantic partner, that one person with whom I would experience and spend my life.
Until I met my best friend.
My best friend taught me that soulmates are not necessarily found in the romantic loves we have, but even above that.
We were college classmates and not that close, as we both went through difficult times, but we always used to keep in touch, even if only for some days, and then disappear.
I don’t remember the exact moment we gained each other’s trust, but because of her, I know the meaning of true friendship.
How is my best friend my soulmate?
Let’s first define a soulmate.
Most of us have our own definition of a soulmate, but I found mine on a random day, scrolling on YouTube.
It’s uh… Well, it’s like a best friend, but more.
It’s the one person in the world who knows you better than anyone else. It’s someone who makes you a better person.
Actually, they don’t make you a better person, you do that yourself — because they inspire you.
A soulmate is someone who you can carry with you forever. It’s the one person who knew you and accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did, or when no one else would.

My best friend is like a best friend but more; she is that person whom I trust more than anyone, around whom I am not afraid to be whoever I am.
That person who is always looking for more, for something bigger, and that inspires me every time she grows and heals.
That person who, even if she may not see that she deserves the best in life, taught me to demand more.
That person who, even if more of a realist, never stopped me from being a dreamer.
My best friend is my soulmate not only because she accepts me for who I am, but also because she taught me to accept her for who she is.
At times it feels like we live the same life in different countries, as we get to experience similar emotions at the same time.
My best friend is my soulmate because no matter what happens, we will always be there for each other, lifting each other up.
