My Answers To 10 Quick Questions

It’s time to jump on board!

I’ve been tagged in Linda Ng’s prompt numerous times by many writers (thank you everybody!) and kept vowing that I would get around to it at some point. As others seem to be having so much fun with it, I decided to finally do it. Sorry for being so late to the party! I think she has even written a second one now.

Linda’s original post is here:

I’m happy to say that it looks like it has gone viral!

Who would think that a fun little post just answering a few questions would get so much attention? Certainly not me!

So without further ado, here are my answers to these mysterious questions of hers.

  1. Favorite Drink:

Since a question about coffee is further down, I have to answer water for this one. I know, I know, water is sooooooooo very boring. But water is life!

Chris and I both have huge water bottles, mine is 1 liter, his is 1.5 liters and we each go through a whole one per day if not more. If we are working outside and doing physical labor, we will each drink 2–3 of those bottles. It’s our preferred drink throughout the day and quite often when we eat out we forgo any other drinks on offer and just stick to our water.

Of course, we do like alcoholic beverages here and there, but the quantity that we drink of those pales in comparison to how much water we drink. I like to believe that it is part of what keeps us so healthy while out here in the world.

2. Favorite Color:

This is super easy for me; TURQUOISE! I am a bit of a fanatic about turquoise and usually gravitate to it in my clothing selections. I even painted my vehicle turquoise once using a foam roller and a brush. It turned out great!

I also have 2 turquoise rings and a necklace that I wear at all times.

I think I fell in love with turquoise when I was a kid because my parents took me to tropical locations for holidays. Who can resist those beautiful turquoise waters?

3. If you won the lottery what are the top three things you would do first?

  1. I think I would purchase an apartment somewhere in either Turkey or Bulgaria. Somewhere central where we can leave some stuff and still come and go as we, please. We do love traveling, but there are times when we wish we could just hunker down for a while and get some things accomplished that are hard to do while on the road. I would certainly want an art studio built into it as well.
  2. I would send some money to the village in Africa that we started helping in 2021. They need so much help and a lot of infrastructure to make their lives easier and more sustainable moving forward.
  3. Travel, travel, and more travel! I don’t think how we travel would change too much, other than we may eat in nicer restaurants and not be on such a tight budget all the time. That would be really nice.

4. Favorite Cuisine:

I would have to say that my favorite cuisine is pretty much any type of Asian food. I LOVE Vietnamese and Thai food, I LOVE sushi and Japanese food, and I LOVE authentic Chinese food. I also LOVE a good curry and enjoy Indian food like papadams, palak paneer (okay, paneer anything), and pakoras.

5. Would you give up social media or your cell phone forever?

Well, considering that Medium is part of social media, I don’t think I could give that up these days. But all the other social media platforms are just a royal pain in the butt. If I didn’t need them to make a living, I would happily give them up.

I would give up my cell phone if that is all it was. We never make phone calls, I can count about 10 in the past 5 years, but I use it for an internet connection, to message people, and it guides us around the world with google maps.

6. One thing I am really good at.

I like to think I am good at writing because that is why I am here after all. Hehe. But I think the one thing that deserves highlighting is that I am good at organizing things. Whether it is organizing events or trips, or even organizing people's homes (I used to have a professional organizing business), it is a particular skill that I am good at.

Some days I do wonder how my own life got so disorganized though! But that is a story for another day. Ha!

7. Cats or Dogs?

This is an easy one for me, CATS! I never had pets growing up and it wasn’t until Chris moved in with me and brought his cat that I began my love affair with them. I do like dogs as well but I find them so needy. They need to be walked, they need to be played with and they just need so much attention. Haha, I can see now why I’m not a mother!

Anyways, cats do their own thing, mostly, and I love how interesting their personalities are. We have a bit of a thing with cats as we travel. We find them EVERYWHERE!

8. Coffee drinker?

This is a resounding YES! Chris is the coffee maker in our relationship and I am thoroughly spoiled. He cooks it with spices like ginger and nutmeg, as we learned to do while in Morocco, and always brings it to me in bed. We each have a large travel mug with us and that thing is filled to the top. I drink coffee and sit and write on my laptop for the first 1–2 hours in the morning before doing anything else (as I am actually doing right now.)

9. What languages can you speak?

English is my native language and I am so grateful for that. I can speak conversational Spanish though it takes me a bit of time for my brain to switch over if somebody comes at me with Spanish.

Being Canadian, I know bits and pieces of French but only simple basics. I can by no means have any sort of conversation in French other than maybe telling people my name and where I am from. But because Canada is officially bilingual, all food products have both French and English and any official government sign or messaging has both. So along the way, I have picked up more vocabulary than I even realize, I’m sure.

Chris is big into languages and actually picks up a lot of the local languages wherever we go. Impressively, he taught himself both Spanish and Arabic through google translate. Because of him, I learn the basics in most countries we go to; greetings, numbers, and asking how much. Those sorts of things.

10. Can you use chopsticks?

Yes! My parents taught me to do this at a very young age thankfully!

So there, you go! A few more things to learn about me. Thank you Linda for the fun prompt! For your reading pleasure, you can see some other authors' responses to Linda’s first batch of 10 questions. Stay tuned for round 2! I’m sure I will get around to them as well, someday:)
