My 8 golden rules for 2022

How I plan to live life to the fullest.

I have never made any New Year’s resolutions for myself. Currently, I am at a difficult age. I’m 22 and highly motivated to shape my future. I know that I can and must lay the foundation now. That’s why I would prefer to work all day. On the other hand, I know how short life can be and things other than work are what matter. So, to find a good balance, I have imposed the following rules on myself for 2022. Maybe I can inspire you to copy some of them into your life.

1. Call your mum

The loss of a beloved family member a few months ago showed me how short life can be. Since then, I’ve enjoyed every moment with my loved ones all the more and have resolved to continue doing so this year. Most of the time, we don’t appreciate what we had until it’s gone. I plan to check in with my loved ones more often. Call your mother. Of course, the same goes for your dad, siblings, close friends…

2. Make your bed

Starting the day with a completed task increases our productivity throughout the day. Even if it’s just a small one like making your bed. Scientific studies show that a completed task increases motivation to tackle the next task. With a good start to the day, a successful rest of the day is preprogrammed. Build momentum and stack the small wins.

3. Only make new mistakes

Mistakes are what usually move us forward the most. I know this from myself. I learn best when I have to learn my lesson the hard way. So mistakes are usually a good thing. However, only if we learn from our mistakes point in the past, this is unfortunately not always the case with me, but in 2022 I hope to change that. I only want to make new mistakes.

4. Become comfortable being uncomfortable

Comfort destroys us. That’s why in 2022 I often try to operate outside my comfort zone. That’s the only place we grow. Trying new things, challenging myself all the time, showing a willingness to give back mixing uncomfortable situations. Set goals that force you to level up.

5. Walk straight

Head up and chest out. Our body language says more about so than we think. However, it’s not just that our mood and confidence determine our body language, but the other way around as well. It’s very hard to feel intimidated and afraid when you’re walking around upright and with a smile on your lips. Even if this physical posture is only artificially forced.

6. Be kind to people

You never know what others are going through. Therefore, always be nice to them point a simple keep the change and have a nice day, may cost you 2 $ but can not save the whole day any other person. If you are lucky enough to be able to afford it stress-free, do it. You will feel better and that alone is worth the 2 $. Plus, you’ll be helping someone else.

7. Go the extra mile

I am convinced that hard work can set us apart from others. If you want something, you can achieve it through hard work. Work a little harder and you will get closer to your goal and stand out from your competitors.

8. Be an intellectual sponge

What a time to be alive. We have access to almost unlimited information. It has never been so easy, for example, to watch two celebrities being interviewed. We have access to an almost unlimited number of books, audiobooks, and videos, which allows us to become an expert in almost everything we want. I will try to use that more in 2022. Be an intellectual sponge.
