My 50th Article on Medium!
Advice for young writers on this platform

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.
Lao Tzu
In celebration of my 50th article, I would like to formally say thank you to anyone who has ever read, clapped, or commented on one of my articles. It took me 6 months to reach this milestone, and in this short amount of time, I like to think I’ve grown in my ability to write. My goals starting out were to grow as a writer and make some extra money on the side. While I have not yet made enough to quit my 9–5 job, my earnings over the last couple of months have helped me boost my savings account.
I never considered myself a very good writer, but it was always something I enjoyed doing. The exciting thing about writing is that you are creating a piece of work from your mind. Medium is a great platform to write on because you can choose whatever topic you desire. This flexibility is great, especially for a beginner.
Find your audience and choose one or more topics to write about. I started off writing about sports because that is what I am passionate about. Relationships and motivating men to better themselves in life is another passion of mine. As of late, I write more about relationships, because that seems to be a more interesting topic on Medium. You have to write about something you are knowledgeable in and if you offer value in your articles, the readers will come.
My advice to writers starting on Medium would be to read as many articles as you possibly can. Learn from the successful writers on this platform by studying their strategies. Find out where they get their photos from, why they format paragraphs a certain way, and how to keep readers engaged for longer reading times. Don’t worry about joining the big publications at first. It’s much more important to find your voice and learn the ropes on Medium.
Finally, I would not be able to say thank you to everyone who has helped me along this short journey. There have been many of you who have helped directly or indirectly. Here are a few of the writers, whose articles or words of encouragement have inspired me: justissgoode, Zsófia Vera, ChrisIvy901, Cendrine Marrouat, Alberto García, Joselromero $$$, L.A. Fosner, Tom Handy, Annelise Lords, Raphael Jerome, Checkmate11, Allison Gaines, Carol Burt, Edina Abena Jackson, Isaiah McCall, Nora, and many more.
Also, I want to send a special thank you to Dr Mehmet Yildiz, for all you do with Illumination.
I’m just getting started with Medium and I look forward to improving my work over the next 50 articles. The best thing about this platform is the readers and people who contribute their time and energy here. Let’s continue to help each other out and grow together in this thing called writing that we are all passionate about. As always, stay positive!
