My 10-Point Plan When Life Gave Me Lemons
When life gave me reasons to despair, I made myself ten promises of hope
I had challenged myself in the year 2023 to improve on 10 key areas of my life. Without further filler information…
My goals were:
1) Brain Health – Read to learn, implement, exercise my brain and become an overall better person rather than kill time or have the title as an avid reader. I aim to read 25 books.
2) Mental Health Is Priority – Overcome suicidal thoughts and replace self-harm (cutting). I owe it to myself and my husband to stop choosing death over life.
3) Reignite My Passion – Start writing again. I used to be excited about life just for this reason, writing.
4) Develop Skills – Complete 12 online courses. Knowledge is power. I figured I can do one course each month.
5) Physical Health – Lose the excess weight. I felt like I looked like a balloon. I was on psychiatric medication that made me overweight (as a woman who had maintained an unhealthy low weight all her life due to body-image issues, this was the most difficult thing for me).
6) Spiritual – Finish the Kajabi course. I have invested time and money into this program and remain committed to finishing it. Quitting is not an option!
7) Leisure – Make 12 drawings. I never do anything for fun anymore. So this one’s just for the fun of it.
8) Increase Independence – Get my learner’s permit for driving. New country, new rules. I can’t depend on my husband forever.
9) Shift to Positive Thinking – Complain less, find the silver lining, be hopeful and give up less.
10) Relationship – Better communication with my husband. I am not alone anymore and don’t need to suffer in silence. I am not a burden. I deserve what I give him and others (he taught me this).
This was my first time making yearly goals, and I’ve learned a lot. I look forward to setting my 2024 goals!
