Mumbai Memories
Poetry Prompt: Resilience
Mumbai- the City of Dreams
Where Lady Luck dances along
With Those who dream big
And work undeterred and long.
But this city is more than just
A melting pot of the east.
Here is where resilience reigns
Come famine or feast.
Bomb blasts, communal riots,
Violent attacks, torrential rains
Curveballs are constant, as is Hope!
Embodying ‘No pain, no Gains’!
The people always bounce back
Resilient, Brave, and Bold
Ready to chase their dreams
And turn dust to Gold.
This city instills industriousness
Into those who come into her fold
Let the past teach, and present guide
And see dreams into reality unfold!
This poem is a response to the prompt by the very versatile verse-maker Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她). I immediately thought about the city I grew up in, Mumbaiwhwm I saw the prompt. Home to Bollywood, cricket, millionaires, and mayhem- this city is one that has truly sprung back despite being hit by so many obstacles and disasters.

‘Tagging all’ but calling out one especially resilient and yet optimistic soul — the lovely Gurpreet Dhariwal to see what she crafts on this topic.
