MUFON, the world's oldest UFO research organization, is actively involved in the scientific study of UFOs/UAPs and supports the recent congressional hearings on UAPs, offering its extensive database and expertise to assist the government in understanding and disclosing information about these phenomena.

Abstract

The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), established in 1969, is dedicated to the scientific examination of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). With a global network of over 4,600 members and 1,100 volunteers, MUFON has been instrumental in collecting critical data on UAP sightings and educating the public about their potential societal impact. Following the first congressional hearing on UAPs since 1969, MUFON has expressed enthusiasm for the increased public and governmental interest in UAPs and has offered its resources to support comprehensive legislation and detailed public information on the subject. MUFON's Executive Director, David MacDonald, emphasized the organization's readiness to assist the U.S. government, highlighting MUFON's vast database of sightings and its high rate of explaining reported occurrences.

(MUFON, May 24th, 2022) In order to benefit humanity, MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), focuses on the scientific study of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). With a history dating back to 1969, MUFON is the oldest organization of its kind. UAP sightings have long been investigated by MUFON, which has gathered the critical data needed to educate the public about the phenomenon. The UAP phenomenon can have a tremendous impact on society.

The Mission and Goals of MUFON:

I. Investigate UFO sightings and collect the data in the MUFON Database for use by researchers worldwide.

II. Promote research on UFOs to discover the true nature of the phenomenon, with an eye towards scientific breakthroughs, and improving life on our planet.

III. Educate the public on the UFO phenomenon and its potential impact on society.

This week, MUFON’s 1,100 volunteers from across the country watched the hearings along with 46 international chapters with 4,600 members globally. Since UAPs have now become mainstream, a more substantial bipartisan collective effort is needed to push for more comprehensive legislation and detailed public information. In order to help the federal government, MUFON is ready to assist with information concerning UFO sightings and how to effectively handle data collected from these events. MUFON applauds members of the United States House of Representatives for holding a hearing on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), specifically, members of the House Intelligence, Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee (C3).

The topic of UAPs is becoming mainstream after many years as a taboo. Congressional hearings on May 17th were held for the first time since 1969 when Congressman Gerald Ford led the fight for an Air Force report and hearing. Prior to the hearing, MUFON has spoken with numerous Congressional officials, answering their questions about UAPs. It is MUFON’s tradition to work closely with Congress. For years, MUFON information has played a pivotal role in unfolding the disclosure process. Harry Reid sought funding for the AATIP program with the aid of information from the MUFON database.

In a press release on May 24th, 2022; MUFON Executive Director David MacDonald said:

“I am excited that Congress is taking this critical first step in disclosing what is known,” said MUFON Executive Director David MacDonald. “Through our knowledge and database of sightings, we know that there are many unanswered questions. With over 10,000 reports a year, MUFON has a 92% rate of being able to explain the sightings. We hope that Congress and the Department of Defense continue to be transparent with the American people. MUFON stands ready to assist the government in any capacity,” said MacDonald.
