My First Newsbreak *Strike* For a Story about a Naked Italian Statue

It violates their no nudity or sexual content rule

It took me about 40 days to get monetised on Newsbreak — and within 24 hours of being monetised, I’d received a strike, for posting the story below, without the line about big balls.

This morning I received an email from NewsBreak…

“Your content titled ‘When Classic Art is Deemed ‘Pornography’! Principal forced out of her job over naked statue farce’ has been flagged for violating our content policy, specifically Nudity or Sexual Content. This violation counts as your first strike according to our strike policy. If you think this strike was issued in error, you may appeal by clicking on the button below. The appeal process may take at least 3 days.

“A second policy violation will result in account suspension and you will not be able to publish or edit any articles for one week.”

It occurred to me that my original clickbait headline might be a problem for Newsbreak, which is why I toned it down, but the nudity? Please!

I have appealed, but if their ‘no nudity’ policy includes classic art, I assume it will be rejected and I will have to behave more appropriately for fear of ending up with 3 strikes, which I think might mean: GAME OVER.

Key message: Watch out for the strikes on Newsbreak. It’s easy to get slapped.
