Mr. Red Has Returned to My Birdfeeder. Glad You’re Back

Cardinals are believed to be a sign that lost loved ones are near.

It always makes me smile to see one. It makes me feel like Richard is still looking out for me.

I even had them leave their feathers for me at the deck doors. Like they are saying, collect them and put them with your mementos. And I do.

My returned visitor is a brilliant red with a reddish beak and a black face around the beak. He is indeed handsome. I can tell he appreciates that my feeders are full.

When I come to the deck doors, he cocks his head and looks at me as if to say thank you.

If I go out in the yard, he doesn’t fly away. He trusts me. That’s a beautiful feeling.

The most encouraging site was to see a robin on the back fence today. I welcome his melodious song. To me, this means that spring is near. I always look forward to spring.

That tells me I must start weeding the flower beds before the summer heat.

I genuinely enjoy having my feathered friends around. I don’t know why we don’t appreciate them as much when we’re younger. I guess we’re too busy with life, but when our life slows down, we can understand the beauty of nature.

Please take the time to enjoy them as much as I do. Life is short; cherish the little things.
