Mother Nature Is Frightening

Although beautiful in all her powerful glory

Photo by Johannes Plenio on Unsplash

The roar of the flames as they shoot towards the sky The soaring tempest scattering the ashes far and wide, The melodic crescendo increasing violently with a scream As the animals panic and look for somewhere safe to hide.

The roar and howl is heard for miles in every direction The blustering of the wind, stoking the flames higher, The devastation of nature neither contained nor controlled Still the animals melee in confusion, side stepping the fire.

The promised cool change can be felt on the swirling breeze Although it’s far from perfect, not controlling nature’s ire, Each animal is frozen in silence, waiting, wondering Is this their holy salvation or a well disguised quagmire?

The pulse of the forest picks up speed, thumping uncontrollably An earthquake joins the party, testing every inch of the foundation, It is a toss up of exceptional luck, animal instinct, brains and brawn A combination of earth, wind, fire and water inflicting devastation.

Time, validation, understanding and patience will prevail She will eventually grow tired and hesitantly withdraw, Owning the devastation and chaos she has reigned down Unsure and wary, watching silently, her emotions still raw.

Thanks for reading!
