Monty’s Morning
A Tale of Woe and Wee
Monty the dog was feeling quite restless He had to go out and do his business He waited and waited for his owner Mitch To get out of bed and scratch his itch
Monty barked and whined and pawed at the door He couldn't hold it any longer He hoped to find a lamp post to mark his spot And show the other dogs what he's got
But Mitch had other plans for the walk He wanted to try a different block He took Monty to a park with no lamp posts But plenty of trees and flowers and hosts
Monty was confused and frustrated He didn't like this change of fate He looked around for a suitable place But none of them matched his taste
He wanted a lamp post, tall and bright To lift his leg and pee with might He wanted to leave his scent and sign To claim his territory and shine
But all he saw were boring plants That didn't give him any chance He sniffed and snorted and shook his head He wished he was back in his bed
Mitch noticed Monty's discontent He wondered what his dog meant He tried to cheer him up with praise And treats and toys and games
But Monty was not in the mood He felt like he was being rude He wanted to please his owner too But he had something else to do
He decided to make a compromise He found a tree that looked nice He lifted his leg and peed a bit He hoped that would be it
But as he finished his deed He heard a loud and angry scream He turned around and saw a sight That filled him with horror and fright
It was not a tree that he had peed But a woman in a floral dress She was holding a picnic basket And a cake with a candle lit
She was celebrating her birthday With her friends and family But Monty had ruined her day With his unwanted pee
She yelled and cursed and chased him away She threatened to call the cops and make him pay She threw her cake and basket at him She made a scene and a din
Mitch was shocked and embarrassed He apologized and expressed He grabbed Monty and ran away He didn't know what to say
Monty felt ashamed and sorry He wished he could say sorry He realized he had made a mistake He should have waited for a lamp post's sake
He learned his lesson that day He never peed on a person again He always looked before he peed He always respected other's need
He still wanted a lamp post, though He hoped Mitch would take him there He dreamed of a lamp post, every night He hoped to find one, someday
