CREATIVITY | BULLET JOURNAL

Months Of Colorful Fungi And Scary Halloween

Sharing images and more from my bullet journal for September and October 2022

Just before I typed the first word here, I glanced up and looked out the window. It’s a grey, windy day. The sun was out briefly this morning, but I suspect the rest of the day will be gloomy.

It’s fall after all.

My previous post about my bullet journal was all about summer and the hot days, and those seems so far away now. Not that I miss them. I really prefer colder weather to when the temperatures are too high and humid. Autumn really is my favorite time of the year!

There’s just something about the days getting shorter, and the sun being lower in the sky, that envelops me with a kind of magic.

Themes for September and October

Since the meteorological autumn starts on the first day of September, my choice for a theme wasn’t difficult. I chose fungi, simply because I love them so much, and I am actually sad my daughter and I didn't find the time to go out for autumn pictures this year. Who knows, maybe this month.

The theme for October was a simple decision. When I started out with my bullet journal at the beginning of 2022, I already knew October would have a Halloween theme!

September was the first month in my second book, as with all the different things I add to my journal, I couldn’t fit an entire year into the first book. That also was never my aim.

Something else changed

At the end of every month, I always use a double page to summarize my month. This I call a ‘flashback’.

However, I felt the urge to keep track of my days, to jot down some notes on how my days were. Since there’s always enough white space left on the agenda part of my journal, I didn’t have to change anything in designing my journal. All I had to do was sit down every day and write a bit about how my day was.

And I did.

Fairly good months

When one feels down, you tend to forget that there were better days. The other side is also true. When you have good days, you forget there were sad ones, or even only sad moments.

My mood trackers give me a snapshot of my month. If you look at my October mood tracker — the one with the ghosts — you see that some have two colors. Those were days with mixed emotions, and to know what those feelings were, I can go look at the short piece I wrote on the day itself.

My mood trackers confirm that September and October were fairly pleasant months.

Favorite weeks

There are always weeks where I like the designs I have chosen, drawn and colored more than other weeks. Sometimes I have something in mind and it doesn’t work out just as I have pictured, and other times it looks even better than I thought it would.

Those additional pages

In the last post about my first bullet journal, I wrote about the last pages in the book, that I would dedicate those to my coaching sessions. I’m still working on that. The notes I made during those sessions are short and to the point. When transferring them to my journal, I elaborate, wanting to make those pages a source to return to when needed.

Other pages in my journal I still need to fill are those I reserved for my ‘past purge’ series. I just need to sit down and do those, but sometimes I am not in the mood to jot down my memories, as many of them are of turbulent times.

One thing I have completed in Book 1 is the extra book page I had drawn towards the end of the book. In the header image you see my new book page, drawn in Book 2, and it already shows several titles of books I have listened.
