August 2022: Monthly Theme and Writing Prompts

Nature freely dispenses inspiration, energy, and natural wisdom if we take the time to stop and have a close look.

The monthly theme for August 2022 is, “nature.” Nature provides us with tons of inspiration, serene beauty, and energy. We only need to take some time from our busy fast pace schedules to stop and look closely.

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” — John Muir

I love taking a walk in nature. I appreciate nature’s beauty captured all around us. Whether it is forests, mountains, or lake landscapes. Even harsh arid environments have a magnetic beauty.

When life’s roller coaster is on the stressful uphill stretches my walks in nature are therapeutic. The energy, sounds of nature, its beauty, and uniqueness help to relax and energize me.

With our high-velocity lifestyles, it is easy to forget that plants, trees, and natural environments are a blessing in disguise. Time spent in nature has spiritual healing powers.

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” — William Shakespeare

Do we want to protect our earth and its natural beauty for our children and their grandchildren? Then it is time to take action to conserve our natural habitats.

“For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive; in this century he is beginning to realize that, in order to survive, he must protect it.” — Jacques-Yves Cousteau

During the month of August 2022 let us celebrate nature’s gifts as part of A Taste for Life’s monthly theme. Why not aim at making people aware of the awesomeness of nature using our passions for writing?

Here are a couple of general questions to help us look for the gems in nature that we sometimes forget to notice. I trust you would be able to say, “nature is beautiful,” and, “we should make more attempts at conserving nature for future generations,” after your reflection.

  1. Do you appreciate nature? Why, or why not?
  2. Does nature make you feel elated or sad?
  3. What lessons does nature teach you?
  4. Is nature a blessing in disguise or are natural disasters a foe that makes human life difficult?
  5. Do you have stories to tell about how nature contributed to helping you solve a problem or life crisis?

Ponder the questions above for a couple of minutes. What feelings of joy, sadness, or gratitude did your reflection about nature evoke in you? Feel free to share your story or stories with us.

Are you interested in, and invigorated by, writing prompts? You are welcome to self-publish, and submit stories to other publications or A Taste For Life, based on the August 2022 monthly theme and prompts.
