The monsoon humidity drifts further south this year
And for some folk that brings some kind of windy fear
Fear of the spinning cyclones — they come and they go
Known elsewhere as the hurricane — they make the winds blow
The black cockatoos get very nervous in the trees

And ask — have you not noticed the absence of the bees?
As usually they come to dine on nectar - on flowers like these

That moist humid air makes it hard to sleep late at night
But does not seem to frighten the mosquito — that seeks necks to bite
And as I stroll further down towards the mouth of the river
Leaving pussycat paw prints on the sand I deliver
Then those noisy black cockatoos warn me of something ahead

There it is slithering in the grass — looking for the lunch of my head

I thank the cockatoos for their life saving warning
And bow to them up in the tree they are adorning

Then I finally arrive at the safety of the beach
Away from those snaky things — I’m far out of their reach

Now let’s sit to chill and give gratitude — yes let’s not forget

That we survived another day on planet earth — as we watch the sunset

MeooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW for now dear readers
Until next time
