Money Never Spent is Never Yours!

A perspective on money management

I heard this quote from a colleague. This phrase describes parents who are frugal and careful with their money. However, when given pocket money, their children would spend it freely without reservations.

And that is a reality because our children’s worldviews and perspectives on money differ from ours.

Hence my colleague advises that we (as parents) can be generous in our spending. Just go ahead and spend your hard-earned savings on yourself. At the end of your life, whatever money remains will still go to your next of kin, your children.

How should we parents manage our money? We should not be overly thrifty and learn to enjoy the freedom that money can buy. After all, it is genuinely our hard-earned money.
