REFLECTIVE POETRY
Mirrors

Someone once said to me ‘We are all mirrors don’t you know’ I was not sure what they meant but my ignorance I did not show
Over the years I’ve understood what my cryptic friend connoted I have experienced it myself my own reflectivity I’ve noted
The mirror aspects of man are many hate begets hate, grief begets grief love begets love, lust begets lust envy begets envy, relief begets relief
But our mirror gets often blurred its optic properties malfunction some force or coating is applied on it and it cracks or goes out of action
The mirror’s coating is called ‘free will’ it is what sets boundaries from the others it is both a gift and a curse a gift because we breathe free, unsmothered
A curse because we are social animals who do not like being on our own which is why we keep our mirror clean until we are at risk of being owned
