We seek friends in the outside world, we want praises and love showered. A smile back when we smile at the world, a wave back when we wave.

But, how many of us smile at the person in the mirror? Give her some love and praise, And tell her she means the world to you. She, who like us has been waiting so true.

We rush past her most often, doing mundane things possible. Sometimes a mere brush, other times a glance, With no complete attention, sometimes with askance.

When we give her no comfort or care, nor treat her with respect or fair, When we give her no good loving, how then can we expect others to give us some and keep us glowing?

The person in the mirror is the one I need to hold dear. She is mine to cherish and love, she is the one I always have.

Sometimes I look at her lovingly, while other times I stare angrily. Sometimes I chide her for looking back at me, other times I hardly say anything and simply flee.

But she is ever so patient with me, she always lets me just be. I am sure I hurt her, with all my errs, still, she only has a smile and longs for me to just look.

If I befriend the person in the mirror, the one who is mine forever, I can feel the love from the entire universe even on days when I feel worse.

I need to understand, and perhaps so do you. We will see different people in the mirror. I need to look and like what I see and you what you see. Only then can we even like each other.

The world can tell you its comments about the person in the mirror, share their judgments or try and bog you down with opinions. If you love the person in the mirror for who they are, stand tight with them, chances are the others won’t get any far.

We can befriend the whole world, greet everyone with a big smile. But it all begins with loving the person in the mirror. She is the one who is mine forever.
