Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar Accused of Being a Homewrecker in Explosive Divorce Filing
Dr. Beth Mynett accuses the freshmen rep. of breaking up her marriage.

It reads like a trashy romance novel.
A doctor accuses a recently elected Congresswoman of being the woman to break up her marriage.
Her political consultant husband, who helped elect the Congresswoman, tells his wife he is in love with her and that their marriage is over.
As the wife begs to save her marriage, he tells her that is not possible and leaves her and their 13-year-old son to be with his mistress.
The congresswoman is also the married mother of three.
And so goes the divorce filings of Dr. Beth Mynett, estranged wife of Tim Mynett political consultant of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
The Players
Dr. Beth Mynett is the medical director of the city’s Department of Corrections.
Her estranged husband, Tim Mynett is a political consultant whose company has been working on Rep. Omar’s campaign since last year.
From Buzzfeed News:
Tim Mynett was working as Omar’s political consultant when they met. Omar’s campaign paid Tim Mynett’s company, E. Street Group, more than $200,000 from August 2018 through June of this year for political consultancy services including internet advertising, digital communications, and fundraising consulting, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Rep. Ilhan Omar is the Minnesota congressional representative, who has been the focal point of racist attacks from the Republican Party in general and Donald Trump in particular.
She’s also the member of ‘The Squad’ a group of four freshmen representatives of color that includes Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The Accusation
First reported by the New York Post, the divorce filing in DC Superior Court claims Tim Mynett declared love for Rep. Omar and stated his marriage to Dr. Mynett was over and couldn’t be saved.
According to the documents, Dr. Mynett pled with her husband to try and save their marriage, but he wasn’t moved. Tim Mynett then left their home for good in April of this year presumably to continue his relationship with the congresswoman.
Dr. Mynett also accuses her estranged husband of secretly taking their 13-year-old son to dinner with Rep. Omar at the family’s favorite restaurant. While there, Omar gave her son a gift and was invited back to the family home while she was out of town.
She also accused of her husband of putting their son in harm's way by having him around the freshmen rep. because of the death threats that were directed at her, including one that led to the arrest of a New York man who threatened to shoot Omar in the skull.
Dr. Mynett is asking for sole custody of the couple’s son.
The Fallout
All parties involved have refused to make an official statement regarding the allegations.
In an interview on Tuesday with local affiliate WCCO, Rep. Omar was asked if she was still with her husband and if not, was she dating.
“No, I am not. As I said yesterday, I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it.”
Buzzfeed News also questioned E-Street Group about the accusations to which they replied:
“E Street Group does not comment on the personal life of either our staff or clients.”
So there you have it. Only time will tell if this story has legs and what it will mean, if anything, for Rep. Omar’s reelection campaign.
