MINDFUL TRAVELLING
The Spirit Mindset Every Traveller Must Have
Travellers are curious about life
According to the dictionary, a traveller is someone who travels. Did you expect that coming? Maybe I was searching for a more romantic answer like:
Traveller: The person who enjoys wandering around and get to know new cultures. Travellers are curious about life. A traveller is adventurous, always keen to try out new experiences. Traveller is the one who brings their home in the heart. And traveller is the one who flows with life.
Do you agree these are the spiritual characteristics every traveller must have to discover the world?
A traveller is a curious person
Travellers wander from one place to another moved by curiosity. They are curious of getting to know a new culture with all its characteristics: flavours, music, history, traditions, language.
But they also feel curious about their background. A traveller is always happy to share about their culture and heritage to people like them who are curious to learn from others. They will also feel happy to show you around their new place.
At the same time, a traveller is always respectful, loyal, and empathic with others people’s cultures, thoughts, and beliefs. They know that we may not share the same opinion but we all have the right to express ourselves.
A traveller is adventurous
As journalist reporters, they are more attracted to have the information from first hand. They want experiences and to tell others about their adventures. There are stories that may not make sense but are actually true. — Are you thinking of someone who has fantastic stories?
Adventurous travellers are more willing to try out: exotic food, extreme weather, bizarre traditions, different ways of living. That’s why they would try to join local tours to meet local people.
Travellers are busy living the present
They don’t think much about the consequences or what are they doing the next day, or the next week; not even mention the next year.
A person who travels enjoys being here; right where they are, and they are not wishing to be in another place.
A traveller has their home in the heart
Doesn't matter where they go, a traveller always brings home in the heart. That is why they feel at home wherever they go.
Travellers know family is not restricted to the people they share blood with. Family is all those persons who shared laughs and sorrow. Travellers actually know they can choose their family on the road.
At the same time, travellers are aware of quality time. They know that maybe tomorrow they are not going to share the table with their family, because they might be snorkelling in Mexican reefs. That’s why travellers will always seize the time together with their family, creating memories which will last forever.
Did you identify yourself with my description? Or maybe you thought of someone while reading? It remains curious to me how these core values are attached to a traveller even though there is no manual to follow to learn how to be a traveller. All of the ones I know are like that: curious, adventurous, are busy living the present, and have their home in the heart. Do you agree?
