DIARY OF A SEPTUAGENARIAN
Mid-Week Musings From Mexico
Mexico Musings 20

Though it isn’t a “special” day in the grand scheme of things, today has been a good day. Today we began our second month in Mexico.

We are both turning safe shades of darker without burning. And yes, sunscreen is used when we are out for extended time. And yes, I do own a swimsuit.
On Christmas day we saw whales while sitting on the log above off the coast of Playa Malpaso. Today we again saw whales while sitting on a log at Playa Patzcuarito.

We finally had a full day of sunshine after three days of cloud cover. Today I had someone wish me feliz año nuevo, a cowboy riding on the beach while leading a troop of gringos learning to be vaqueros [cowboys] while on vacation. He has seen us often over the past month and we are now a part of the scenery.
On the way back to our apartment just as we entered onto the path from the beach into the jungle, we came across a small green snake. All it took was a flick of a hiking pole to send the critter off onto the side of the hill away from the path. I wasn’t about to take its photo as I wasn’t sure if it was venomous or not.
Back home, a shower and shave had us ready for an evening on our deck to welcome the evening.
