Microfiction on Medium
Some stand out Microfiction authors not in Adlers Writing
Here at Adlers Writing we showcase some of the best writers of Microfiction on Medium. There are still a couple of good authors out there that we haven’t managed to collect. Yet:
Nicole Willson
At the end of 2017 Nicole had just finished a 52 Week Writing Challenge run by the Writing Cooperative, where every week in 2017 she wrote a 50-word horror story (50-Word Horror Stories). Congratulations on completing the challange. I know how difficult something like this is as I tried to write a Microfiction every day in November 2017 and just dried up after 12 days. As at February 21st 2018, there are only 434 stories tagged Microfiction, so it’s likely that Nicole has more than any other single writer. My personal favourite is Thin Ice.
Little Fears
It seems every day a Little Fears story appears. Most are best described as brief vignettes. Each is accompanied by a video with the story read in a distinctive London accent. This makes one homesick for the noise and grime of any central London thoroughfare. There is the occasional story that can be classed as Microfiction, and my favourite is Lucky Penny.
There are many little pockets of Microfiction secreted about Medium. One such pocket contains Elise Edmonds who back in 2016 wrote two good stories, never to be heard of again. One does wonder if she disappeared into the Portal of her own creation. Elise, if you can manage to travel back, we want to read more. [=edit=] We managed to persuaded Elise to showcase Portal in Adlers Writing. Welcome aboard.[=edit=]
The Focus of Attention was first published in May 2017 and as far as I can see NO ONE read it until I discovered it on January 3rd 2018, and later published here gaining many readers and fans.
Another neglected little read story is The Techtard by Aodhnait Donnelly. We hope more people will take a look and give it some deserved attention.
If you have a favourite Microfiction story/writer let us know via the comments, so it can reach a wider audience.
Read, write and appreciate Microfiction.
