Michelle Obama’s High Road
Kindness Matters
One of my favorite quotes from Michelle Obama is “When they go low, we go high.” When I heard her say this at the 2016 Democrat Convention, I was so excited.
Finally, someone had said what I had been thinking. Someone echoed a sentiment I had tried to follow for most of my life.
At the time, I remember thinking if the Obamas felt this way and they were the most powerful people in the Democratic party, at last there is a political party that I could respect. A political party that I could support and vote for without holding my nose.
But that mantra was short lived, and I soon heard things from Democrats that almost rivaled the outrageous exploits of some of the fringe members of the Republican party and Donald Trump.
I found myself once again having to hold my nose when voting for the lesser of evils.
It shouldn’t be that way.
I wish people would adhere more to Michelle Obamas words.
Spewing insults and hate even towards someone who spews nonstop insults and hate puts one on their level.
I promise you will sleep better at night if you take the high road. As I get older, I have found that whenever confronted with two paths, the kinder one is always easier to travel.
