I personally couldn’t care less about a throw away comment like that, but he should’ve known how pissed off that would make the golf nerds.</p>

Michael Block | PGA Club Pro, Top-15 at PGA Championship, And Professional Bag Fumbler
The feel good story that took over the sports world for an entire Sunday afternoon appears to have come to a screeching halt after Michael Block shot 15 over par, missed the cut, and finished dead last at the Charles Schwab Challenge PGA Tour event this past weekend.
“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.”
I don’t know if that quote directly relates to Michael Block, given the fact that he’s still far from a villain, and not nearly a hero. But the concept of that quote fits beautifully in this rags to riches story. Literally a week after Block had the entire sports world eating out of the palm of his hand, he’s back to charging $100 a lesson.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure he’ll be around at every PGA event he’s invited to, but I don’t see a world where he ever puts on a show even remotely close to what he did at the PGA Championship. Block is well aware of that too. He made plenty of comments about how his weekend at the PGA Championship was the peak for him.
I’m sure the birth of his kids are riiiggghhht behind it though. If we’re being honest, the miracle of life is child’s play compared to a round with Rory.
After his big weekend at the PGA Championship, Block went on his media tour, seemingly taking every press invite from podcasts & golf blogs. It appeared as though he got too big for his britches when he made the comment that if he had the same distance as Rory Mcllroy off the tee, he would be the best golfer in the world. I personally couldn’t care less about a throw away comment like that, but he should’ve known how pissed off that would make the golf nerds.
Side note: Is there anyone more clueless and annoying in the sports media world than Bob Menery? Stick to BDubs commercials Bob. Regardless, Block’s comments caused a lot of people to turn on him. That was his first mistake.
His second mistake came when he thought it would be a good idea to play in the Charles Schwab Challenge, also known as the Colonial National Invitation.
It’s one thing if this was the NBA, but to go for a heat check on the PGA Tour, on live national television — I certainly wouldn’t have done it. That’s probably why I’m a 26 year old loser that will never leave my parents guest room. But at least I’m not shooting 15 over par for the entire world to see. Two sides to each coin right?.

Let this be a lesson to anyone seeking overnight fame: give the people just enough to make them want more, and then disappear until someone offers you a massive pay day. In this case, I’m obviously talking about LIV.
