Summary

Oona, a mixed-heritage individual on a new planet, experiences a unique form of love and connection with Jagger, another mixed individual, which challenges traditional beauty standards and reproduction methods.

Abstract

In a narrative that explores the complexities of intercultural relationships on a newly colonized planet, Oona, the first accepted mixed-generation individual, grapples with the duality of her heritage. Born to an earthling father and a mother with metallic skin from the new planet, Oona embodies both human and alien characteristics. Her relationship with Jagger, who is more metallic due to his male lineage, illustrates the divergent concepts of beauty and love between Earth and the new world. Their intimate encounter, charged with energy and a literal glow, hints at a profound connection that transcends physical appearance. However, the potential consequences of their union, namely pregnancy, lead to a moment of restraint and reflection on the nature of their love and its implications.

Opinions

  • The narrative suggests that love can transcend physical appearances and preconceived notions of beauty.

  • The concept of love is presented as powerful and transformative, with the characters' cheeks literally glowing during their intimate moments.

  • The story challenges traditional gender roles in relationships, as both Oona and Jagger exhibit a mix of characteristics that defy typical expectations.

Metallic

Oona was the first mixed generation that was accepted on the new planet. After they had colonized the aliens from Earth here, the earthlings had been slaves originally a concept her mother told her.

They had no idea what the new planet's name was. There were words in that language that the earthlings could not understand because the sounds of the words were in a higher frequency.

Her earthling grandmother had been encaged by her new planet master, and he had fallen in love with her. That was how her mother came to be born. Her mother had married an earthling, so Oona had the partial metallic skin of her mother’s side on the edges of her — her temples, fingers, and toes. A little along her spine and between her legs.

Otherwise, she looked like her father. The concept of beauty on the new planet was not like that on earth. People were admired for the metallic smoothness of their skin. Her father had softer skin like hers — flesh-colored was what her mom said it was.

“Daddy and I fell in love even though we were not what the other would have grown up to believe was beautiful. But we fell in love and had you. Your father said I became more beautiful after I had you.”

Oona believed obviously then that love conquered all.

Pressing her metallic fingers together, Oona was proud of both sides of herself. The alien human side and that of the new planet. Her parents told her they did not care who she fell in love with as long as she was deeply in love.

Jagger was mixed like her. But as a male, he was more metallic. His lips were a smooth iridescent metal color.

Because her father was an earthling, he and her mother made love the bestial way that his kind did. Because she and Jagger were mixed, their lovemaking would be different.

When his smooth metallic lips touched hers, they both lit up. Their cheeks pink and glowing.

Literally.

They raised their hands and touched metallic fingertips to each other’s. Oona gasped at the sensation from doing that with him. His energy dominated hers, and she felt her life force submit.

Jagger let her hands go suddenly.

“Don’t stop,” Swooning, Oona looked up at him with slit eyes. “Touch me.”

“I do not want you to bear a child. If I touched you any longer, you would become a mother.”

She gulped.

Jagger kissed her once more, and she tried to touch his fingertips with hers, but he would not let her.

“I will be back soon. I need to cool off.”

Oona was on fire herself. When she looked in the mirror, her lips were metallic like Jagger’s, and she wondered if he had moved his fingers from hers soon enough.
