Messages Un-bottled

Seeing what is inside

People are like a bottle with a message inside, bobbing on the ocean waves, hoping to find some warm sandy beach to wash up on and be found.

For some people the glass of their bottle is clear, allowing anyone to see inside. For others the glass is opaque. For others their glass is tinted in various bright colors. For some the glass is so dark it is impossible to see if there is anything inside.

When we find a bottle we react to the size and shape and color of the bottle and to the label on the outside of the bottle. Sometimes we do not even bother to open the bottle to see what is inside.

Glass is made from sand and eventually it breaks down and returns to the earth.

Just like we do.

But what happens to the messages inside? Do they continue to exist if they are never read? Do they exist at all if they are never written?
