“Men the world over possess amounts of resource, which only very exceptional individuals push to their extremes of use.”
American psychologist William James, 1907
I read this quote in Angela Duckworth’s Grit. The point is that most of us could do far more than we settle for.
Also, in 1907, only men did anything worthwhile. As a modern woman, I can join the category of people who don’t maximize their potential. Thanks?
It reminds me of the difference in my life between 2020 and 2021.
In 2020, I played video games. In 2021, I started a new career as a blogger, sold some of my fiction, enrolled in a PhD program, revised a screenplay…and the year’s not even half done yet!
What changed between the two years? In January 2021, I joined a mastermind group for personal growth and development. That one change led to everything else.
