Memories that will always stay with you
Travel moments that will stay in your heart
For this piece, I would like to share two everlasting memories that have stayed with me despite the years passing by.
The first story took place when I was a kid. Some of my extended family suddenly decided to travel up to the northern part of the country to visit another family. It was so sudden but of course, me being the little hyper kid, I was delighted. It would take us a few days to get there because it was going to be a road trip. It was a trip that will always linger in my mind because suddenly we made a stop. I was so dumb to notice anything else than the little TV display the truck had, but then I noticed it was snowing!
For some background, we always had lived in the south, we did get some snow but it was mediocre, nothing like that! It was an amazing experience! There were lots of snow. We stayed there for hours; playing, building snowmen, making snow angels, and freezing ourselves. It has been the first and last time I have experienced such a climate and I am grateful for being able to hold those memories with me, they are much loved. The joy of that day still fills my heart.
Another great moment that I would like to share takes place way before the whole world went to work at home, I gathered some experience by working remotely for a certain company for about two months. It was a wonderful time because I knew how to organize and plan my time better.
One of the main benefits was that I was not tied up to a physical location, I could be wherever I wanted! Of course, I maximized this all I could and all my wallet could. So I would often go to a nearby town where you can do lots of nature-related activities. As I wanted to take advantage of these trips, I would wake up earlier than normal and start with my worklists.
Then suddenly when I was going to take the same trip as always, the hotel notified me that the usual room that I always booked was already occupied but that I didn’t need to worry, they already had one for me. And BAM! When I got there I saw that it was a room with a terrace, for no extra charge! Do you like the story already? 😏
I did the same, woke up, and worked but in this case, I worked on the terrace. As it was super early in the morning, no one was around, not even staff. Everything was silent. The view was amazing. I could see the lake and the hills behind it. There was a light fog which made the scenery similar to a movie. Everything was so quiet and tranquil, there was even a light cooling breeze. Everything was perfect and so was the sunrise. It has been one of the times I have had such tranquility. I stayed in the moment for some more time, I appreciated where I was.
I bet that many have had amazing experiences whilst traveling, you can do so much when you visit a new space or you try out something new in your go-to location.
With this being said, this week’s prompt is about those long-lasting memories. What is a moment that will always stay in your mind and heart? How did you feel and why do you choose that travel moment? Where were you? What happened and what did you do? Who did you go with? Has this had an impact on your everyday life?
