Memories Stained in Mulberry
GiaB prompt #23: trees
Memories stained in purple, red, and black from the mulberry tree in our garden. Picking the ripe fruit for a juicy snack whole days spent thus, in pleasure most ardent.
Sometimes we would gather them into bowls and take them back to the kitchen for Mum. More often we would have no self-control, and wolf them straight down with satisfied hum.
Had we no bowls we’d use t-shirts sometimes pulling the hems up, a basket to make. The stains made us look like victims of crimes and we would eat ’til our bellies would ache.
Many years have passed since I saw that tree, But still it looms large in my memory.
I would like to tag Tree Langdon TC Hails Anthony O'Dugan Melanie J. Orla Kenny Jennifer McDougall Kyomi O'Connor Jeff Ehren Carolyn Hastings Spyder who may be interested in this prompt.
