Memories Come, Like the Rain
A poem of missing you
Memories come, just like the rain They bathe me in sweetness They remind me of pain
I wish I could touch you, taste you, you say But thinking of seeing you It just brings into play
All of the things that sometimes we’ve kept On the back burner Out of sight swept Because we cannot have them right now
It’s hard to stand in the heat of this thing The glow is so warm But there is a sting A bittersweet melody that I can’t help but to sing
You are ever in my heart You are always on my mind How long must we be apart? How long before I find
That the rains of memory Will flood in unbidden and grace me with their story and my hopes so often hidden
