Meeting My Mother In High School
August Keeley’s Daily Challenge

Nancy Oglesby: If you could go back in time, which of your parents would you like to meet in high school?
Meeting My Mother
I have never considered this question before, so thank you Nancy. I think my mother would have been more fun than my father. I think my father was a good guy, but he did become an alcoholic. As far as I know, I don’t think he drank in high school though. I think he was a good student, as he was smart. I’ve seen A’s for his college math classes.
My mother was an only child, and I know she was generous with her friends. Her father was a successful businessman at a time many people were still recovering from the Great Depression. My mother had a lot of friends and she loved to dance. She did talk about her love of “big band” music and she played records frequently. She also played the piano. My mother loved to sew, knit and crochet. She was patriotic and loved to serve in various capacities. For instance, she was president of the local women’s club. My mother could type at least 80 words per minute and take shorthand. She was a secretary when I was a child.
She did find out she was adopted through a DNA test at age 92, and I wrote about that previously. We searched and never found her birth parents.
