Medium’s Value to Readers
I was a reader before becoming a writer.

I stumbled across Medium one day as I was googling a topic I wanted to read about. It could have been astronomy or the benefits of walking. And google suggested an article on Medium. The location didn't actually matter to me but the title and picture looked interesting so I clicked.
That click introduced me to what I like to describe as the Netflix of the blogging world. Or maybe it is more like Hulu since there is a free version with limited access to articles as well as the subscription. Subscribing and having unlimited access to all the articles published on Medium is only $5/month. Less than one magazine!
I love that what I pay for membership supports the writers without me having to buy anything from the writer. I don't have to join their Patreon, buy them a cup of coffee or send them money through PayPal to show my support.
I follow authors writing about a wide range of topics - homeschooling, environmental issues, local to me topics, mental health, walking, photography, and many more. Many authors I follow are Australian. Others are from all around the world. Non-fiction, fiction, opinion, poetry, short and long stories, photo essays - you will find them all.
