Medium Writing Secrets

There are some magic tricks to becoming a success on medium. Let’s begin at the beginning.
What Not To Focus On
If you focus on this:

You will never become a success on medium. As it tells you nothing about the process of building an audience ANd the writing process that you have to use to get the steady hit counts in the first place. But, to quell your mind let’s talk about money.
The general guide is that subtract one to two zeros and that tells you the predicted monthly check. In this case, it’s between $6 and $60. It’s computed on the number of reads; how many of those reads are members and how many are new members.
What you do not see is that due to the specific processes I have put in place I will be at 60,000 in about two months and then at 600,000 views in about 6 months.
Hints On The Process
Let’s look at some detail:

And the rest of it:

You have two specific writing targets:
1. Covering part of a subject in a new unique look or way.
2. Covering niche subjects that are unique enough to score high in Google and Bing SEO.
And you couple that with some quality title writing and writing experiments to attempt to find out which nice subjects and unique coverage of subjects will take off. You are always ping-ponging between both of those strategies. As you have to have enough writing output per month to get to the 600,000 monthly views figure.
The ideal number is about 12 to 20 articles per month.
Where Do Views Come From
Where do views come from? Let me show you where they are generated. Obviously, if as a free member or a paid medium member you have followed someone or some medium publication you get an email. But, there is another way that they discover the article:

Obviously, depending upon view count your article may pop up in the upper left and middle of the front page of medium. The other space they show up when you have followers is the right top corner of the front page.
You, of course, have 3rd-party aggregators depending upon the subject you are writing about; but, that is only about 1% hits generated. Your hits will come from two places, search engine SEO and knowing your audience and what subjects they want to see on a daily and weekly basis.
The only way to know what to write is to experiment with smaller articles and smaller pieces of a big subject.
The Other Secret About Medium
The other medium secret has to do with how we can no longer write articles in a series. Because Medium no longer supports articles in series one has to have a way to point readers to the other articles especially since you will not at the first start in one publication.
I use a background subsection in all my coding articles:

I do not link every article but just the good articles mapping out the book content and chapter areas I have to prepare for the book series that I am writing.
Conclusion
The key here is to pin-pong between two writing strategies. Writing about a subject with unique viewpoints and writing about nice subjects that produce high search engine SEO.
So, stop focusing on the daily hit count. Get a system where you can write 10 to 20 articles per month. And do that for 6 to 18 months to reach writing success on the Medium platform.
