Summary

The website content describes a contest for Medium writers to determine who has had the longest wait time between publishing an article and its curation by Medium editors.

Abstract

The article titled "Medium Writers! What’s the Longest Time You’ve Spent Hanging Tight?" is a call to Medium writers to share their experiences with content curation delays. The author, Roz Warren, invites writers to participate in a contest by submitting links to their articles that have endured the longest period in "Curation Limbo," the state where a story is being processed by Medium's editorial team before it is officially curated and distributed. Warren sets the stage by sharing her own experience of a six-week wait for one of her pieces to be curated. The contest, which runs until July 1st, 2023, offers recognition and readership as the prize for the writer with the longest curation wait time. The article also announces the current winner, Gaby Rosales, whose essay took nine weeks to be curated, and provides an update on the contest's progress.

Medium Writers! What’s the Longest Time You’ve Spent Hanging Tight?

Can You Beat My Record?

We’ve all experienced Curation Limbo, in which a new post is given a “We Are Processing This Story. Hang Tight.” After which? We play the waiting game. Sometimes for moments. Sometimes for months.

Ever wonder what’s the longest time a writer has Hung Tight before being curated?

Me too. So I’m proposing a contest. Do you think you’re the Medium Writer who has hung tight the longest?

Prove it!

To enter, all you have to do is post the link to your Medium post that logged the biggest wait time between publication and Curation.

I’ll go first.

I published this piece on March 15th. It was curated (in BOOKS and HUMOR) six weeks later, on May 5th.

Can you top that? If so, just post a link to your own Longest Hanging Tight post in the Responses section.

The person who has spent the longest amount of time Hanging Tight before being Curated will be proclaimed the winner and will receive a million dollars!

No. They won’t.

But they will receive acclaim and recognition, plus the likelihood that the rest of us will be curious enough about your winning post to read it. (And, if nothing else, I will read and comment on all of the entries, and since I am a Paying Medium Member, that means at least two cents for you!)

The contest closes at 5:00 PM EST on July 1st, at which time I will announce the winner. Or loser. Or however, you characterize the writer who endured the longest stretch of time in Curation Limbo before meeting with Curation Success.

Good luck! May the Algorithm Be With You!

(Update: WE HAVE A WINNER! Gaby Rosales easily wins with this essay, which took 9 WEEKS to be curated. Congrats, Gaby! Your patience is an inspiration to us all.)
