Medium wants me to have more than 100 followers by March 2. Here’s my plan.
My Journey Writing on Medium
I have written many articles including different ways to earn passive income by working or writing online and publishing articles on medium enjoying the partner program is one of them.
I published my first article on medium on July 7, 2020, and until February 17, 2022, I have published 18 articles in total. My articles are about entrepreneurship business and how to make money online and although I did not publish regularly or very often my articles were published in some publications with some followers.
I admitted that I wasn't very serious about writing or being a popular writer on medium, so I was very slow to publish articles. But starting from January this year, I started to write more and submitted stories to publication to publish, and I see success immediately after I increase the number of articles I publish each week.
On January 30, 2021, I published an article on medium no high-paying work from home jobs in 2022 and that article made me $11.30 in two weeks! That's when I decided to be super serious about writing on medium because I thought this could work.
What The Heck?
Things come to a turn when I looked through my inbox once a week I suddenly thought maybe I should have a look at my junk box. Well, that's when I found an email from medium saying:
Hi there,
We’re writing today to notify you that the Medium account associated with this email address is at risk of being removed from the Partner Program. As outlined here, Medium has created new eligibility and activity requirements for writers to maintain their enrollment in the Partner Program. If you have fewer than 100 followers you may be removed from the Partner Program.
When I read the email on February 17, 2022, I had 62 followers on medium as a writer and in order to stay in the partner program a medium, I have to gain 38 new followers by March 2, 2022, which leaves me less than two weeks to work on that.
As concerned as I am about Medium’s approach with this new policy. I would be more appreciative if they have given us more than two weeks to acquire 100 followers. I started to think of different ways I could get followers.
My Plan:
Here is my plan on how to get to 100 followers on Medium in two weeks:
- Publish more articles during this period of time to increase exposure.
- Forward published articles to all social media multiple times a day.
- Writing personal messages to friends and asking them to follow me on Medium
- Use the #writercommunity tag on Twitter to get follow back follow.
The Result?
I started twitting my old articles on Twitter with the #writing #writercommunity and trending tags related to the topic of the article. Posting articles on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Pinterest.
I have two more articles in the draft submitted to a publication waiting to be approved.
In 4 days, I have gained 12 followers! (I have 74 followers as of today, February 21, 2022) At this speed, I might actually be able to have more than 100 followers on Medium by March 2, 2022.
