Medium Paid Me A Bonus Of $500 But I Am Not Happy

Two days ago, my April earnings were gone and many writers were talking about this error. I sent a message to Medium and they said that they were aware of the issue and that their engineers were working on it. This made me feel good because I was doubting whether my money would arrive on time or not.
Yesterday, I opened my mailbox and was shocked to see that I received two different payments. One of them was what I earned through the Partner Program ($1000) and the second payment was made for high engagement ($500). I am one of those 1000 Medium writers who have received the most claps, views, and comments but I am not so happy.
Why I Am Not Happy?
Please don’t take me wrong but I am not happy because I will now have to make a lot more plans to continue impressing my readers. I am working for hours a day, and it sometimes frustrates me because I don’t manage time for my family. I wake up early in the morning, make a list of titles, conduct a lot of research and take extra time to create quality content.
Given that I have now become one of the top writers, my responsibilities have increased. This is good in a way that I am making enough money writing on Medium, but it is going to be problematic for my family who looks at me whenever they have to say something. I don’t interact with them while I am writing because I want to avoid all the distractions.
A Work-Life Balance
There is a thing called work-life balance; it is lacking in my life. I devote most of my time to writing and other online works and rarely go out with my family and friends. Sometimes it makes me upset because I don’t want to continue living this life. Money is not everything. Family comes first. I have heard people saying this but it is not practical. Money definitely matters because we cannot feed our families without it. Still, I will try to manage time for both my work and family because I don’t want to upset my family while trying to engage my fans or readers.
What’s Next?
The most important thing for a writer is to manage their time. It is not easy for aspiring writers because they have to learn so many things. I don’t call myself a new writer, but I admit that I am still not able to give proper time to my family and friends and they keep complaining about my workload. They want my presence and company. They don’t always want my money and I realize it.
In the next few weeks, I will teach myself how to have a work-life balance. I don’t want to ruin my family life while working online. I know the value of both family and money, and I don’t believe in the idea of leaving everybody behind.
