Summary

Medium offers a feature for authors to republish their existing content without negatively affecting their original article's search engine ranking by using a "canonical link."

Abstract

Medium recognizes the challenge of duplicate content and provides a solution for authors who wish to extend their reach by re-publishing articles. By using the "canonical link" option, authors can indicate the original source of their content when posting it on Medium. This not only prevents the Medium version from outranking the original but also potentially boosts the ranking of the original article due to Medium's high domain authority. The process involves copying the article into Medium's editor, accessing "more settings," selecting "advanced settings," and then specifying the original URL as the canonical link before publishing. This feature allows authors to leverage Medium's platform for broader exposure while maintaining the integrity of their original content's search engine ranking.
