Medium $500 a month challenge…

The goal is to find out if we can make $500 a month on Medium.

Maybe $1,000 or more, but for now we are starting with $500.

I broke down and took a shower.

When I began this crazy quest in September I stated that I would not bathe or change clothes until I hit the $500 mark. I would only write and sleep.

I didn’t publish yesterday. I read other Medium writers’ work, followed, commented, and clapped.

Then took a shower. Whew!

Am I crazy? Maybe, but to document this quest I wanted to find out ASAP for all of us.

SO WAZZUP?

My writing is growing. Not getting rich YET but I made $11 yesterday. at this rate, I will be making $300 a month. that is a lot for me…lol. Taco Bell money, not sushi money. but I love bean burritos:) We need to make $16.66 a day to hit $500 a month.

To make $1,000 a month, $33.32 a day.

To make $10,000 a month, $333.33 a day.

So I am being the rat in the maze determined to crack the code as to what it takes to make money on Medium.

$10,000 a month. Am I nuts? We will find out.

Side note…….clean clothes ARE SO AWESOME!

It’s a full-time gig if you want full-time money!

I am a kinda newbie. For months I doubted everything. In my writing, I feared failure, so I kinda dabbled and was not making hardly any money.

In August I had an ah-ha moment. I decided to get serious. Time to shit or get off the pot. Well, here we are. It is possible to make money on Medium.

It’s Like Stepping Stones… Easy peasy.

Here’s the plan:

You need followers. Read an article, comment. Read the other comments that the writer got. Go to the commenter’s Medium, read, comment on the stuff they wrote, and follow.

Clap your butt off. Not one clap. 50 FRIGGIN’ CLAPS!

If you missed it I wrote about clapping. One guy responded to my article by saying, “One clap is for mosquitoes.” Love that!

Write every day and publish every day if you can.

You can bathe and wear clean clothes every day. I went to an extreme for this documentation of this mission to learn and share for all of us.

The $500 a month will happen.

It’s your job so have a schedule. My schedule is:

First thing in the morning, check the stats and my email.

If someone reads one of my pieces and commented or highlighted it, I open their Medium, follow them, read their work, comment, and clap. As you grow, this will take some time when you really start growing.

For me, it’s 2 to 4 hours a day.

I love that I am encouraging the newbies and learning from the vets. I also learn from the newbies.

Then I write. It seems to be working. Not only am I seeing the vast amount of writing styles out there, but I am making friends.

Win-win! I love my job. After doing this schedule for a while it gets easier.

CURATION. None of my stuff has ever been curated, so don’t worry too much. Maybe if you get curated you do even better. Illumination is my publisher most of the time. I was going to try and find out how to get curated, but my day was very full. Maybe someday.

I have been going at an insane pace so we would know ASAP how much we could make off this Medium writing gig.

A hardcore schedule. WRITE. EAT. SLEEP. so we are finding out that it is possible. Medium is a viable way to make money.

I will prove that we can make $500 a month. (I think in theory, I all ready have. By October 31st or before, we will know.)

The next goal is $1000 a month. Can I do it? Do you really have to ask?

I had a stroke so I am disabled…well in some ways. I can’t walk or talk well but I’m a writing MO-FO! Kickin’ serious ass!
