POETRY
Meditations on Fear — The Series
5 poems about aspects of my fear and anxiety

A few weeks ago I set out to write a poem about my fear. The idea was to help me to understand it better, because I’d been having an almost physical sensation that fear was walking with me. Sometimes that felt overwhelming. So I wanted to look at it & see it, then breathe some space into it through poetry.
The original poem grew arms & legs, then crawled, then sprawled. So I split it into five separate pieces, which can be read each in isolation, or together as a series.
For those of you who would like to read all of the series, please see the links below (they will be updated as each one gets published).
In the meantime I’ll leave you with that well-known quote about thoughts, habits & destiny. From my googling it appears the source is disputed so I’ve not attributed it to anyone…
Watch your thoughts, they become your words; Watch your words, they become your actions; Watch your actions, they become your habits; Watch your habits, they become your character; Watch your your character, it becomes your destiny.
Thank you as always for reading.

A shout-out to Sydney J. Shipp for the wonderful poem Ice Storm. In a deceptively peaceful way, we see the distance of those who are right beside us.
