An American cinquain response to Ravyne Hawke’s daily prompt today

Yellow Calla lily Glazed with your dire desire Lay my cloak down as a blanket Tantric
I created this poem in response to two prompts, Michael Hall’s introduction to the community of the American cinquain in August and Ravyne’s 10/5/2021 daily prompt in her new pub, Promptly Written. Ravyne challenged us to:
“Choose any 5 of the 10 words below to write a poem” of “no more than 5 lines.” “For verbs, you may use any tense.”
“foreign, disable, calla lily, hostel, dire, glaze, travel, cloak, insure, yellow”
(I bolded the 5 words I used)
The American cinquain is a 5 line poem with a 2/4/6/8/2 syllabic structure, so it seemed ripe for this prompt. After I wrote it, I looked back at Michael’s description and realized it worked even better than I had consciously imagined as:
“Crapsey’s cinquain depends on strict structure and intense physical imagery to communicate a mood or feeling.”
