Maybe you’ll never reach your goals

Perhaps ‘normality’ will be your highest ever achievement. A mediocre existence, the pinnacle of comfortable living.
Working a regular job, earning an average wage, retiring at the grand old age of sixty-five to live out your golden years on a modest retirement fund and optimistic handouts from the government.
Doesn’t sound too bad, right?
Sometimes you have to face the facts and it could be that overwhelming ‘success’ just isn’t for you.
After all, nowadays you have to be something kinda special, cut from a different cloth, to stand out in this fast-paced, over-populated world.
And be honest, deep down, is that really who you are?
Maybe it’s time you finally admit the truth and stop chasing what isn’t meant to be.
Accept your ‘fate’, forget about your goals, your hopes, your dreams and pursue an ‘ordinary’ lifestyle instead.
You’ll probably enjoy it and it looks much easier as well.
Everyone experiences self-doubt.
No matter how rich, famous, successful or run of the mill you are, uncertainty always plays a part when it comes to chasing your goals.
Above were just some of the thoughts and scenarios running through my head as I indulged in two weeks — possibly longer — of relaxation, procrastination and a lack of motivation.
I was all but ready to throw in the towel and revert back to the lifestyle I enjoyed in my teens and early twenties.
Thankfully, I was able to snap out of that mindset and force myself to get back on track, though it wasn’t easy.
The mind is a powerful weapon and more than capable of turning your negative thoughts into a reality, if you let it.
So, the next time you’re faced with a spate of self-doubt, don’t do what I did and allow such ideas to gain traction.
Instead, stamp out that negativity quick smart and do something, anything, to help you push on through and keep moving in the right direction— even if it means writing a below par, 344-word article like this one.
