Maybe the Greenest Event of the Year
By Positivity in the Chaos
The Forth of April 2024
Introduction
Welcome dear readers, environmentalists and nature lovers. Soon we will be embarking on a most exciting journey, an annual trip to collectively gather and support our home.
Naturally we care for the Earth all year long through usual efforts, recycling, planting trees etcetera. It is now however we can brainstorm, share ideas, sentiments and pay homage to our beautiful life giving planet. Of course we do not need a specific day to do this, we can simply do it, no fuss, no thinking too much about it. This day however is different, because we are given the opportunity to get more people involved at the same time.
So first off fantabulous people, here is your ticket for our journey.

Do not worry about missing this viewing, other writers will have written their own takes as you have no doubt have seen and been super intrigued by.

The following is my interpretation, hopefully inspiring you to join in, feel included and create your own works to pay homage to our home. For ease of understanding, yet sense of adventure and fun it begins as a journey; so grab your detective/ exploration gear and let us dive together.
What, why, when, how, who, where and a little more; enjoy your snacks or keep things thematic with roasted chestnuts. Curtains draw open and whoosh the chill of the air hits you like a refreshing walk into the countryside. To your left you see a map painted onto a high stone wall, the highest mountains stand on all sides of us, a lush forest spreads out before us, impenetrable except for a clear pathway lined with vines, trees and lustrous plants. Animals can be heard shuffling about, trees shake, the chirping of different bird species sound aloud in a harmonic cacophony.
You turn around to discover a single large door, made of small to medium trunks lashed together with vines. You can turn back, but do you?
Your adventure is before you, there is no pressure wonderful reader, the door is always open to you any time you want to enter. If you decide to join, or if you feel like contemplative stroll.
For those who remain, we turn back, Nature awaits. From the wall’s finger painted directions, you discover it looks to be made of crushed red Jasper; some sort of black triangles that may or may not be mountains with a wiggly green line and strange vertical lines that may signify snakes or spikes. So off you go, battling your way through the trees, you discover a leather journal, old, tattered in the corners and barely legible. ‘A Nature Soul’s Journal to Meeting Earth’s Maiden by … aos’ its title reads, you cannot make out the name, but the first chapter reads.
One of you volunteers to read this chapter eagerly, his well spoken English accent reminding you of tea and scones with butter and jam in the centre (remember your most gracious English accent please).
Chapter 1. What is Earth Day?
You can probably believe it dear beautiful people, but I had no idea Earth day was a thing until recently. Naturally I am a nature lover, support our environment as best I can but for the most part am an outlier. Not part of the crowd, yet that hidden pillar.
Anyhow, the annual event is to celebrate the efforts of environmentalists to support and promote greener solutions and working with, rather than against nature. It is also a time for nature lovers to gather, enjoy the time together and share ideas.
More importantly it is a moment for us to show Nature how much we deeply appreciate all of the treasures she offers us to live with her in peace and harmony.
I can only think of Earth day as being a modern creation, such as ‘cup cake’ day and other made up days people have said are things, whether they are or not, because doing so is a coping method. That is for individuals to decide individually however and if it makes them happy, peace be with them.
Personally it is a fantabulous idea, paying tribute to Earth, caring for our environment, discussing ideas all that good stuff!
Historically it reminds me of how our ancestors celebrated nature and seasons; working with methods and crafts that did not abuse, but rather compliment.
That sounds quite vague, so what do I mean? Well for one, stopping this throwaway attitude! Without saying too much though, you can wait until my piece itself comes out to discover more.
After reading, the well spoken English gentleman tips his explorer’s hat off to you lovely ladies in the group and says “Oh my dear ladies, what a wonderful day this must be, though where is the rest?”
“Indeed good Sir, what a mystery, let us explore further” you reply with a smile and curtsy and off Y’all trot skipping along the vine lined path happy as can be. Upon a turn one of you ladies sees some pages trapped by some vines, they look as if they are about to blow away, but you dive like a champion athlete in heals catching them as they fly.
(remember ladies, your finest English accent please) “Almost, my worded clue” you say satisfied triumphant in your victory and so off you read cheerful, yet intrigued. Your sweet yet keen voice aloud to the group.
Chapter 2. Who do we celebrate it with?
Well, if you like me have kept your magnifying glass to the green rooted road, we have answered that already, you and me. You, me every other nature lover and our special guest Earth itself.
A quick note: Nature works hard everyday trying to fix our screw ups, so giver her some space, ‘leaf’ her alone… Moving on… So grab your vine, take a swing (remember to scream like Tarzan and Jane)a few vines along and there you will be.
After rolling your eyes with a grin, because my joke is amazing, you look at your fellow explorers proudly, chest out and announce confidently “Come on Dears”
Each of take a vine synchronised and off you fly, reaching and grabbing vine after vine as crocodiles snap at your feet below. Passed the leafy foliage, carefully avoiding Poison Ivy, naturally being superwoman, you reach dry path the first. The rest land beside you soon after as you gleam gloriously at your agility.
“Watch for the… never-mind…” The other lady attempts to warn you as your high heal sinks into a muddy pit. “It will wash off Lovely” she reads your mind at your unimpressed expression, “Ugg Boots are such better fashion choices” you laugh together as you admire her pink pyjamas, and fluffy boots combination.
It is then she sees pages held down by a rock beside her, bending down like a yoga practised gymnast, she retrieves them marvellously and begins to read to you all. Her voice higher in pitch than than yours.
Chapter 3. Where do we celebrate it?
On Medium specifically, we are artists, readers and writers right?
So where else but here, Medium is our writing home, the place we communicate, gather and present our hearts in the form of works.
Not just here however, the great and wonderful real world. The beautiful lush forests full of life, meadows bouncing with bunny rabbits, high alpine areas teaming with guinea pigs, goats and delicate blossoms; and dessert zones full of hard cacti, camels snakes dogs and scorpions.
For those who live in the new world, concrete jungles with hints of green escapes, the areas we meet the Earth and those we must protect.
“Ooh how lovely, the person who wrote this, uses Medium too, how wonderfully whimsical” she regards the chapter’s author. And off you go again, the forest shining like Nature’s emerald jewel in your eyes. Suddenly the ground quakes beneath your feet and out of the blue, ninjas surround you all. A thrill of fear fills you all, they circle you terribly, machetes in hands.
You hear a cockerel somewhere in the woods and remember you have a manicure appointment after your journey, while the men remember they have a poker game to get to; while the shy one of the group just recalls she wants to finish reading her book. Without delay you remember that karate, jujitsu and mixed martial arts training you never had and kick their butts POW, BOOM, BAM. Letting the pythons eat some whole, as the tiger eats another and crocodiles chomp on the rest.
A tall ginger haired fellow hears a ‘CHOMP CHOP’ behind him that sounds like a “thank you” as a crocodile finishes the last few bites. Turning around you observe him bowing, while the animal seemingly reciprocates.
Turning towards you, the gentleman smiles and leads the way. It does not take long to find the next sheets, which are strangely hanging from a branch, you would never reach. He reaches up preparing to grab them when a pair of eyes appear through the branch covered ceiling, they are misty green in colour then his body comes into view. Long and slinky, speaking with a salient s “Yo-u would seek the t-reas-ure of our world humans” it stammers, hidden knowledge behind its cautious tone.
“Not to to take friend” a timid voice quivers from behind you. The rest of you manage to spin around as the quietest, yet most confident of your group speaks, while the rest keep one eye on the ten foot long snake slowly reaching you, until its head is beside the shy girl’s and it speaks less cautiously.
“In-n tha-t case, mind if I join? I do lo-ve a good adventure and eating ssneaky ninjas can become so dull you understand”
“Of-course” The timid girl replied looking up hopeful towards you for approval. Without fuss, you give it and the ginger haired gentle man wearing pyjamas and fluffy slippers stating ‘Rawr’ and reaches and reads it.
(Remember he has a strong charismatic voice)
Chapter 4. Why do we celebrate Earth Day?
It is a rather silly question you magnificent exquisite beings, but as you know in our exploration journey of the great Earth Day!
As explorers we leave no stone unturned, even the square ones.
Donning our long grey Green trench coats and top explorer hats “calling dibs on Indiana Jone’s”, we delve deeper into Mother Natu… Okay cleanse your minds please ‘sigh’ like working with horny rabbits.
We are provided with everything we need to live on Earth, food, shelter, community, materials to build beautiful homes, mineral elements to create pragmatic and fanciful items, life giving waters. In essence, we are given a splendiferous home.
We are all living on this planet together, you, me, neighbours, friends, enemies, brothers, sisters, animals, insects fauna and flora. It is our home, I think this is more than enough reason!
From behind you see Mister Snake waggling his tail like a happy dog, beside his new found friend. “S-splendiferous, you can sit on my back if you like , he offers the timid girl. Enjoying herself cheerily as he raised her off the ground.
“O-off we skip” she announced and off you all skip deeper into the densely grown forest. A fierce wind tears passed you, half a page landing right in her face as she sits comfortably on the snake. It hisses in surprise, while you all jump, the shy girl soothes it with her hand, like petting a dog, but a snake. She reads just loud enough to hear.
Chapter 5. When do we celebrate?
The 22nd April of course, look at your ticket please!
“By golly, that is almost upon us” A chimpanzee says aloud.
At this point you are no longer surprised or shocked by new arrivals; especially since you are wondering through a forest wearing, pyjamas with ugg boots and fluffy ‘rawr’ slippers, an elegant dress with high heals, fine suits, comfortable three quarter length trousers and detective explorer trench coats with adventure hats. On top of all that, you have a snake carrying one of your group talking as if that is perfectly normal. What is really strange about chimpanzee joining in, also knowing the Mister Snake.
“H-hello George! J-joining us on our journey?” Mister Snake asked enthusiastically, giving George a hug with his tail.
“Of course Spencer, have been very curious I have” and off you all go, cheerily chatting and laughing together.
The pathway ends, a massive lake lays before you, a small makeshift dock of bamboo lashed together creating a rather humble yet elegant decking area, railings and even wicker chairs and tables; to which you all sit and eat scones with jam and cream and drink sweet honey tea.
After a delicious early lunch, you all climb onto a sturdy raft, grab an ore each and sing while rowing onward.
After an hour or so traversing the endless lake, more pages seem to be waiting for your arrival, clamped to a post like a flag of discovery. It is the shy girl who grabs them, reclaiming her comfortable perch on her contented fiend’s back. This time however he proceeds to read them as she holds them out.
Chapter 6. How Do we celebrate?
Well that is your choice now is it now? Contextually we are mostly readers, writers, artists and I have seen one innovative creator who uses their page to advertise products they sell.
How fantastical is that! Such beautiful minds here on Medium!
So yes, on Medium use your lovely fine crafted skills to create any type of written, drawn, sung or built piece you feel inspiration towards.
In keeping it in theme it should be about the environment, sustainability, nature, recycling, upcycling, past and current activities that have benefited our planet.
Outside of writing, you may want to advertise tree planting activities or groups you have helped or participated in; or any groups for that matter. If you feel it supports our Earth and want to pay homage ‘Come and Join!’
Poets, storytellers, article writers, picture painters, sketch drawers, item builders show off your fantails people.
I will be planting some trees out, including the cuttings I took so very exciting. Showing off my upcycled bottle greenhouses Which I now need larger bottles, because they have propagated fantabulously; and more, but you will have to wait hehe.

“W-well I m-must s-say, what blessed p-people you you have on this M-Medium to create s-such beautiful m-masterpieces.”
“Indeed Spencer” A gracious blue peacock replies, shaking her tail feathers enthusiastically “We must join these people”
“Sheraldine!” The big cuddly George hugs his friend.
“Let us be off” you say cheerfully, your heals beginning to hurt your feet. “Sheraldine you must join us!” and so off you all skip, though George offers to carry you because your feet are uncomfortable.
Fluffy seat beneath you, a short skip and you see it. A splendiferous clearing, full of spring life; tables, chairs ad stands. A great archway, with a note attached.

Taking a deep breath, George begins to read, his vocals booming out loud welcoming and friendly.
Chapter 7. Invitation!
As the subtitle invites ‘Come and Join!’
This is an opportunity to share our love, experience and ideas. You will all have your own visions, imagery of how you see this happening. Maybe you will share yours, here is how I envision it. (have no fear, it will not occur so blissfully).
As he speaks, around you a mist appear like morning due, it is hot, damp and surrounds your group. Nerves awake, noises are made and your group feels dizzy yet aware. Confused yet welcomed.
The open clearing surrounded by woods, trees twenty foot tall, secluded from the urbanised noise; mighty Oaks, tentative Chestnuts, proud Beeches, flexible Willows, excellent Ash, powerful Yews, giant Pines and Cyrus. In the distance Redwoods reach the heavens like great ladders, while spreading Rowan trees dance closer to the inner edges.
Woody bark on new and old growth, greens and browns. Beneath them lovely showy Daffodils shining yellow, among blue, purple and white Bluebells, Cornflowers, Whitebells and Snowdrops. Aromatic scents wafting around, while delicate Forget-me-nots show off pale blue petals.
You admire the opening buds at the tips of branches, new fresh leaves beginning to emerge. Beneath them wooden stalls wrapped in colourful canvases of natural brown, leafy greens and organic white.
Standing behind those no one appears, on the tables no product shows. The clearing is empty of people. There are no lights on the trees, that would only ruin the view of the starlit night sky. No light pollution here.
Food stands are line in the centre, you can see Bold titles and Italicised names on these. Their foods and drinks are waiting for everyone’s taste buds; carnivores, omnivores, vegetarians, vegans a selection for all.
Wicker chairs, tables and benches line opposite. Oil lamp posts run around the clearing, seven feet in height, ornate in leaf green patterns.
Looking about, you feel warm see it is beauteous, mind is calm, nature is serene; before your presence, you see the great archway, wrapped around it are the brilliant evergreen leaves of Beberris, growing up and forming round it, magnificent bright orange flowers. At its top, large elegant writing stating ‘Earth Day 2024’.

Upon closer approach you all see a lady and breathe in awe. Earth itself in form of Mother Nature. Dressed in a gown of varigated greens and yellows. Bare feet showing below her floral skirt of yellow Wall Flowers. The skin on her shoulders, arms and face like varnished Elm. Healthy waist to her bust covered in evergreen foliage and beautiful bosom in the fiery red leaves of the Flame of the Forest, forming a U showing off a slender neck. Long Ivy vines stop growing just passed her shoulders as a pale flower dangles from each ear.

You enter through the arch, Earth’s maiden smiles and waves, eyes bright like the sun, energy incarnate and you understand why no one else is here.
It is not time, two weeks and we will be there; sharing, loving standing a stare.
I hope you will join, enjoy our company, share ideas and spread the word.
“How heavenly” The lady pyjamas says so bright and renewed as you all awake refreshed. (remember your well spoken English Accents now)
“Indeed Lovely, we shall have a picnic!”
“Oh!” says Sheraldine the blue peacock “You missed a part” reaching over and continues to read.
Chapter 8. Peace and Positivity
This will be short and sweet, but I ask you to be polite, tolerant and respectful please. Maybe you will write a poem, article, draw, paint or think of innovative solutions to complicated problems. If you decide to join us, however many of ‘us’ there are, remember we are one people and are and will forever be, differently the same. For this reason, please create positive, happy pieces free of criticism. It may also help if you publish your work through a publisher aswell, that way your work will be able to reach a wider audience.
Let us create a benevolent wave together!
“Fantastic!” you all agree, sit down together, laugh and enjoy your picnic.
To exit, you will see a similar door made of small to medium trunks, lashed together with vines. Enjoy your meal and shared experience though before you leave.
Conclusion
Earth is our home, there is only one of it. Like many of you, I feel a deep, primordial connection with nature.
So Heck, Will you join us in our day of appreciation?
Will you take a stall, stand on the stage, present your works to our precious community?
You even have your own ticket!
Note however there is no pressure to join or create a piece for it. Life is tiring, stressful and we all have different situations and responsibilities. You may not have the time, you may not be in the right state of mind to feel inspired to write, or there may be other reasons.
At the end of the day you need to focus on you and your responsibilities first. A mind out of whack is a mind in the wrong state and sometimes that is what we need to clarify our lives at times; but it also destabilises us and can pull us down. For this reason focus on your lives first. Find a peaceful location you feel at peace undisturbed, Eat well, exercise well, sleep well, work with a calm state of being, meditate, stabilise you, love yourselves as best as you can and find a path that you love.
Peace out Brothers and Sisters, may blessings be upon your beautiful souls.
Special Thank You
Thank you to my love-ly Medium sister The Positive Poet ✨🌟✨ Since we met during comments and continued conversing through reading each others works, you have been my continual holistic healer and true friend.
I had never heard of Earth Day, but my closest friends refer to me as ‘socially antisocial’ for good reason. When you mentioned it to me, I was intuitively drawn to it.
As you say, perhaps it is our pen names, that reflect our similarities. Whatever the answer really is, thank you for introducing the idea of Earth Day and allowing me to encourage you as you have encouraged me. Although our approaches are different, we have the same nature heart.
For anyone who sometimes feels down or has anxieties or worries or simply enjoys blissfully transcending reads, I recommend following and subscribing to The Positive Poet ✨🌟✨ . A healer and beautiful spirit.
