May Writing Prompts: 9th — 13th
Sharing Nature’s Beauty

On Friday, I played golf with some people in my neighborhood. I don’t know them very well as we were just put together to play. I live in central Florida. The course is part of the water control system in case of severe weather. It is also partly protected eco-systems. There are ponds, marshes, and grasslands. You can see birds such as seagulls, ducks, ravens, and cranes. You can also find squirrels, frogs, rabbits, turtles, frogs, and the occasional alligator. The alligators tend to keep to the ponds, but can be seen sometimes sunning along the banks or even walking around the area. If you leave them alone they don’t tend to bother you. If you happen to land a golf ball near one you leave it and hit another (without penalty).
Golfers tend to just let the cranes be. They think of the course as their own and usually move along if there are people around. Sometimes it takes a bit of time, but moving slowly around them tends not to affect them. We got to the tee box on one hole and there was a pair walking on the green. We waited until they moved on as a couple of the others spoke about how to hurry them up. I just watched and commented they knew with us hitting, being on the green was probably the safest place for them to be. They flew off, and we hit and played on.
A few holes later, we came across a pair of yearlings where we needed to hit our shots. They were very close and not bothered by us so I took out my camera and took a photo. The other three chatted about the situation. The one who had lived here for over ten years talked about how he had gotten over taking pictures of things he saw here. They all spoke about how the seasonal visitors tended to capture things like this, but they had all gotten used to it. I put my camera back down and commented on how I hoped I never got used to such beauty. This all caused me to reflect after and it resulted in this week’s prompts.
The Prompts:
1) What is your personal thoughts on a special natural moment in time? Talk about if you are one to just wish to be present in the moment as long as it happens. Does taking a picture ruin the moment or enhance it? What is the purpose of that photo?
2) When is the last time you took the time to capture a sunset? Was it intentional or did it just happen? What was so special about that sunset? Did you take it in by yourself or who was with you?
3) Is beauty in nature an activity for you or a life occurrence? Are you open to nature happening at any moment even if you live in the middle of a city our in some rural area. For you to take in nature is is a special event of going for a hike, drive, or weekend getaway? Is it something that can happen at any moment and you embrace it and move on with your life?
4) Talk about the last time you saw something so wonderful you had to share it with others. Did you share it with pictures, words, or both? Please share it with us.
Bonus Prompt: Share a special place you go to take in nature’s beauty. Tell us what makes it special.
Please feel free to share a photo of any or all of the above if you have one.
