Summary

The website content outlines a "May Monthly Challenge for Globetrotters" inviting participants to share interesting facts and descriptions of their hometowns, with the option to include photos, and the possibility of being featured as a winner.

Abstract

The "May Monthly Challenge for Globetrotters" is an initiative that encourages travel enthusiasts to write about their hometowns. Participants are asked to provide detailed descriptions that allow readers to feel as though they are visiting these places. The challenge, inspired by a Globetrotter named Coyote Susan and endorsed by Adrienne Beaumont, JoAnn Ryan, and the other editors, aims to explore the diverse meanings of 'hometown' by allowing participants to write about their current residence, a past home, or their birthplace. Contributors are also encouraged to enhance their stories with photographs. The editors will select one or more winners, who will be honored with a special feature piece.

Opinions

  • The challenge is considered a great idea by the editors, including Adrienne Beaumont and JoAnn Ryan.
  • The editors express anticipation and excitement about the submissions and the opportunity to 'visit' various hometowns through the participants' stories.
  • The initiative is open to a broad interpretation of what constitutes a 'hometown,' acknowledging that it holds different meanings for different people.
  • The inclusion of photographs is seen as a valuable but not mandatory addition to the written descriptions.
  • The editors plan to reward engaging and well-crafted submissions with a special feature, indicating a commitment to recognizing and showcasing quality content.

Tell us about your hometown

We want to know some interesting facts about your hometown. Show us around. Give us as full of a description as you’d like so that it feels like we’re traveling there with you.

If you’d like, you can include plenty of photos from places in town. It’s not required but it would be nice for the readers to get the visual representation.

The idea for this month’s challenge comes from Globetrotter, Coyote Susan. Adrienne Beaumont, JoAnn Ryan, and I all think this is a great idea.

The hometown you choose can either be the one you live in now, a place you’ve lived in the past that you consider to be your hometown, or where you were born.

You can choose…

After all, hometown carries a different meaning for all of us.

I can’t wait to see what comes out of this coming monthly prompt challenge. Your editors, that being us, will choose a winner or multiple winners if we like more than one most and do a special feature piece on the winning writer for this month’s challenge.

Globetrotters, get out there and write.

We’re excited to visit all of your hometowns.
