Matt Par: The 19-Year Old YouTube Expert that Inspired me to Level the F**k Up in 2020
I first stumbled across a video by Matt Par during the lockdown, I was still working from home like I always have but I was feeling down, exhausted, and quite frankly, fed up. I started my work from home career in 2008, writing for clients and creating content for my own online publications. I have built my business from a one-man-band to 70 freelancers and three managers. I am proud of my progress but I still have dreams, big dreams. Matt Par is only 19 years old and he has inspired me to level up big time! If you don’t know who Matt Par is well, watch his videos and find out.
Matt Par is a 19-year old YouTube entrepreneur who makes most of his money through the platform. He started making videos at the tender age of 14 and he has quickly built 9 successful YouTube channels, millions of views, and two milestone YouTube play buttons. One of them, gold for one million subscribers gained. What an amazing feat at such a young age! How did he do it?
I personally have not attended a Matt Par training session, however, the main gist of his strategy is to create niche YouTube channels, faceless channels where you never have to show your face, the videos are pretty simple using images, text, and voice over. These videos have gained millions of views and Matt earns more than $30,000 per month from the channels alone. Young Matt is a savvy, intelligent, and very focused online entrepreneur, his determination and drive inspired me to create my own small faceless YouTube video empire. The young man is a genius, I am certainly not making $30,000 a month from YouTube but my earnings have drastically increased since I started my side hustle. I have four channels, two I run myself, and two are operated by freelancers I hired on Upwork and Fiverr. The majority of the money Matt makes is through the Google Adsense program however, he has also admitted to using Affiliate links to bump up his earnings on some channels.
In an interview with Yahoo Finance, he talked about the challenges he faces as a young Internet entrepreneur. He said:
“The biggest challenge was explaining to people what exactly it was I did. Most people don’t understand that YouTube can be an actual business. When I was in high school, my teachers would tell me that the only way to succeed in life was to go to college, so dealing with that pressure from society as a whole for what you’re supposed to do can be tough.”
This kid is a wonder boy! His parents must be so proud of this super-intelligent, dedicated young man. I have an 11-year-old boy, academics is really not his thing, he is interested in gaming, watching YouTube videos about gaming, and creating puppet shows. He said he wants to direct and produce his own puppet shows for YouTube, I have no problem with this at all, I am all for it! It saddens me when I hear parents dampening their kids’ dreams. If you are a parent, and you are reading this, be your child’s biggest cheerleader, please! These kids need support, they need guidance, they need their parents to believe in their dreams. Gary Vee always says parents are usually the worst dream killers and in the modern world, letting your kids decide for themselves what they want to do with their lives is crucial.
My son has been homeschooled since he was 4 years old, he had a short stint at regular school but it didn’t work out. Let me tell you that I have been verbally abused and insulted by family members, so-called friends, and total strangers telling me that I am ruining my child’s life by not sending him to a “normal” school where he can interact with normal kids. Now the pandemic has shifted the focus away from regular school because parents are terrified of sending their kids back, the same parents who ridiculed me are now posting on Twitter and Instagram “hashtag lovinghomeschoollife.” Ugh! Please! I think people should mind their own business and focus on their own lives. Imagine if Matt had listened to naysayers or if his parents had just told him to focus on his education and forget about his goals? Wasted potential right there!
The lesson here is, folks! Let your kids live! Matt is a shining example of a bright spark who had an idea and just implemented it, he shut out the noise and just got on with it. You never know what your kids could achieve if you just let them breathe.
