He tried not to harbor any high expectations. After all, this was the first night Lucy was going out under the explicit instructions that she was free to do whatever she wanted with other guys.
But it was difficult for Josh to sit home alone and wait. He couldn’t focus enough to do much — he couldn’t even watch television. He’d pay attention for a few minutes and then start drifting off, his thoughts returning to Lucy.
What was she doing right now?
Was she really going to try to find some guy?
Would she actually go through with it if she found someone she liked?
It was only the first night she’d done this; he knew he couldn’t expect too much.
They’d looked at Tinder a little, but while it was a little exciting to see his wife flicking through pictures of men deciding which ones she liked, nothing had come from it yet. Matches — yes, but guys switched off when she revealed she was married.
Where were the guys who just wanted easy, commitment-free sex? The Internet used to be full of them.
Surely there were still men in bars and dance clubs who would consider no-strings-attached sex with interested women? There had to be.
Josh thought about how good Lucy looked in her tight little black dress and how easy it would be for the hem to ride up and reveal the tops of her thigh-high stockings. There had to be a ton of guys who would be drawn to such a delicious sight.
He had to admit how strange it was that he was sitting on the couch in their living room, hoping fervently that his wife would get lucky with somebody else that evening. It was totally twisted. But he couldn’t deny how he felt. He had a mighty craving for Lucy to be genuinely wicked, for her to violate her wedding vows in the most obscene ways.
Yet their therapist had explained it all. It wasn’t only a common thing; it was a predictable thing. The male psyche had developed a system for coping with competition for female mates.
Pre-civilization, when a man saw a woman drawing a ton of interest from other men, it made her more attractive to him. And if he happened to see another man mate with her, then his body made him instantly ready to mate with her afterward, to replace the other guy’s seed with his own.
But while the mechanism might give our hero a better chance of reproducing, the side effect was that he was turned on by seeing another man mating with the woman he wanted.
It was a theory. Josh liked its simplicity. The sense that nature made him want Lucy to sleep with other guys.
He wasn’t going to feel bad about his particular fantasy.
It wouldn’t keep the nerves at bay, however.
Anxiety was never meant to be pleasurable. But somehow, there was pleasure in this anxiety as Josh sat at home while his wife was on a night out with her friends, and her friends intended to get her laid.
It wasn’t just the nervous excitement to be had in anticipation that something thrilling might happen that night — although there was plenty of that kind of excitement, like standing in line for an hour to ride the most extreme rollercoaster.
There was also powerful sexual arousal as Josh closed his eyes and pictured his wife in that little black dress, drinking with her friends in a bar or a club. The male eyes in the place drawn by the curves of her body, the shape of her stocking-clad legs, the trim but luxurious roundness of her derriere, the ample cleavage pushed up by her lacy bra.
Adrenaline rushed through his veins as he thought about how Lucy would respond to those glances. Knowing that those men wanted her, that she only had to choose.
Josh sat there and his heart pumped and thumped as he imagined her catching the eye of somebody across the room, flashing him a brief little smile. Enjoying his attention, knowing she could, if she really wanted, take it as far as she wanted.
He tried to distract himself with food, with movies, with wine, and his thoughts only returned to Lucy and how she must feel flirting with attractive men. Lucy blushing faintly as her friends pointed out someone handsome who was quite clearly casting eyes her way. Lucy feeling her heart all a-flutter as a good-looking alpha strolled up to her and asked if he could buy her a drink.
Lucy feeling the welcome warm tickle between her thighs as a beddable bachelor made a play for her.
Josh sat there with his cock stiff and throbbing, and could do little but clutch his phone waiting for the next text message.
Fortunately, Lucy was sending him plenty of text messages.
She let him know when they were on the train headed into the city. She told him that on the journey in, Gail had said she was determined to get Lucy laid that night. That her friends were taking the view that they had to act fast, before Josh changed his mind about giving her this incredible offer of a hall pass.
She reported back to him when the train arrived at Penn Station, and that they were getting a taxi to the bar the girls had chosen to start the night.
She sent him photos of the bar, both external and internal, which left Josh peering at the interior shot to see if he could spot any guys whom Lucy might go for. She sent him confirmation that the girls were all there now — Lucy, Gail, Flo, Connie, Monica.
She texted him to say that Connie had invited out a couple of guys they used to work with, so that would make for an even livelier night.
Josh also started getting text messages from some of Lucy’s friends — hey Josh, how’s it going. Hey Josh, are you really sure about this? Hey Josh, you have to be the best husband in the world. Hey Josh, we’re going to get your lady laid.
Connie texted him to let him know that one of the guys they would be meeting later used to have quite a *thing* for Lucy. That she had a little crush on him, too, that she’d always suppressed because she’d always been a totally loyal and faithful wife.
Every time Josh’s phone buzzed to announce an incoming text message, his hard cock would throb like crazy at the possibility that something might have happened.
And he was getting so many messages he could hardly put his phone down for long after replying to one, before another came in.
Lucy’s friends felt a little sorry for him being stuck at home while Lucy was out enjoying herself. They teased him a little, believing he was probably watching porn while he waited for Lucy to come back. They got the quaint idea that they might make him jealous by sending photos of Lucy looking gorgeous in the bar.
They sent him text messages to let him know when Lucy was talking to a member of the opposite sex. They sent him pictures if they could get them.
When she wasn’t flirting with other guys, Lucy did continue to send him the occasional missive — to ask if he was okay, to check up on him, to make sure he wasn’t having second thoughts. To express her constant and immeasurable love for him.
He sensed that when she was nervous, she could keep calm by looking at her phone and texting him. It took her a little time to warm up before she was comfortable actually telling him about any men she had spoken with — early on, he only heard about it from her friends.
She liked it when he told her how turned on he was by everything happening. That when she got home, he would drag her to bed and ravish her.
She liked how obvious it was that he had a permanent erection while he sat there reading all her messages and those sent by her friends. She wanted pictures, but she couldn’t face the risk that someone in the bar might see them on her phone.
She liked how horny he clearly was as she had a little more drink and began to get a little bolder about telling him about each of the guys she’d chatted with so far.
She liked to tease him about whether he could really cope if she ended up making out with another man, or taking him to some dark corner for a little light groping, or out into a park for something more substantial. Whether he would really deal with it if she went home with someone else.
Then, the group of men Connie had invited turned up, and suddenly, the game was on.
There was some kind of reverse correlation between the number of text messages Josh received and the actual chances that something significant was going on involving his wife.
It was a little frustrating if he was honest.
When Lucy and her friends moved to another bar, and their invited men arrived, suddenly, the frequency of messages sent to Josh dropped significantly.
He would have felt bad about it, but it gave him a tangible sense that something was really happening — the women were too busy talking with the men to stop and tap out messages to Josh. To engage with the flirting to even remember Josh, it seemed.
But while the wait between text messages was longer, the state of his arousal was higher, which somehow made it more bearable.
It was Connie who first texted to let Josh know that Lucy was now talking to the guy she’d had a little crush on when they’d worked together. The guy who’d always had quite a *thing* for her.
Connie texted Josh a photo of Lucy flirting with the guy — a photo that nearly made Josh make a mess in his pants, it sizzled with so much chemistry.
Jesus.
She really was flirting with the guy. She really was interested in him. Her cheeks were gently flushed, her pupils dilated, her eyes locked on his, her chest slightly pushed out, her finger twirling a strand of her blonde hair.
The guy turned out to be called Asher.
Asher was handsome, there as no doubting that. Josh could see why his wife might have had a little crush on him when they’d worked together. He was tall, he was dark, he was powerfully built — but he had a smile that oozed charm, even from hastily snapped pictures taken in a darkened bar.
Josh regretted not being there to witness what was going on firsthand.
However, as the flock moved on to a club for some dancing, Lucy’s friends started to remember that Josh might be interested in what was going on between her and Asher.
In particular, Monica and Connie were Josh’s reporters in the field because they were both currently married, and as the night wore on, actually losing the courage to actively cheat on their husbands.
They told him how besotted Lucy and Asher seemed to be. How totally into each other they were.
They sent pictures showing the two of them dancing.
Wow.
She looked so happy, just on fire.
Josh had never wanted her more.
