Summary

Lucy and Josh, a couple exploring their erotic adventure with the help of a therapist, Dr. Clary, consider transitioning from medication-induced experiences to a more natural exploration of their desires, which involves Lucy potentially seeing other men with her husband's consent.

Abstract

In the latest installment of the anthology series "Marriage 2.0," Lucy and Josh grapple with the implications of Lucy's unprescribed use of Josh's medication, which alters his behavior and enhances their sexual experiences. During a session with Dr. Clary, they learn about other couples who have navigated similar situations by experimenting without the use of medication. Dr. Clary encourages them to articulate their deepest, most selfish desires related to the medication's effects. Josh admits that the idea of Lucy being with another man while he remains unaware excites him, while Lucy confesses that the medication allows her to feel uninhibited and as though she's with someone other than her husband. The therapist suggests that they could maintain the excitement of their "joint adventure" by allowing Lucy to see other men, with clear boundaries and open communication. The story concludes with the couple contemplating this new path forward, which Lucy's friends support by taking her out to meet someone.

Opinions

  • Dr. Clary maintains a non-judgmental and supportive stance, encouraging Lucy and Josh to explore their desires without prescribing a specific course of action.
  • Lucy and Josh are both excited and apprehensive about the idea of Lucy seeing other men, indicating a mix of emotions regarding this potential development in their relationship.
  • The couple's willingness to communicate openly and honestly about their desires is seen as a positive step in their relationship, with the therapist emphasizing the importance of setting and respecting boundaries.
  • There is an underlying assumption that experimenting with non-monogamy could potentially strengthen their marriage by satisfying unmet needs.
  • The narrative suggests that the excitement of new experiences can coexist with the love and commitment within a marriage, as long as there is mutual consent and communication.

Dr Clary patiently heard them out. He had a gentle manner that encouraged them both to open up — including the part about Lucy trying one of Josh’s pills. They thought he’d be mad at them for Lucy’s transgression, but even hearing about that, he simply nodded and remained surprisingly calm.

‘It’s never a good idea taking medication that hasn’t been prescribed to you,’ he said. ‘But you’re not exactly alone among couples on this kind of program. The temptation to experiment is there.’

Lucy said, ‘You’ve had other clients who did it?’

‘I’ve heard about it a few times. One of my former colleagues, who’s now down in Baltimore, said he was working with a fairly young couple, and they were enjoying the unusual properties of this medication while the husband was taking it. But when the wife was persuaded to try one of the pills, in the morning, she woke up in bed with a complete stranger, with no idea where she was or how she’d gotten there.’

‘Was she all right?’ Lucy asked.

‘Yes, she was fine. She quickly grasped what had happened and was able to get home safely.’

‘And she’d actually slept with the guy — the stranger?’ Josh asked.

Dr Clary smiled. ‘Well, yes, actually. But on the plus side, she was married to someone who likes that kind of thing — indeed, after that, they stopped using the medication, and the wife just started seeing other men on the side.’

‘Oh,’ Lucy said, glancing sharply at her husband. ‘She started cheating on her husband?’

‘No, no,’ the bald, bearded shrink grinned. ‘You wouldn’t call it cheating. The husband is always aware of what is happening — and fully approves. The wife meets people — and dates people — and discusses everything with her husband…’

‘She sleeps with other guys?’

‘Oh yes,’ Dr Clary nodded. ‘That’s a big part of it. But when she gets home to her husband at the end of the night… or in the morning, sometimes… he can’t get enough of her.’

Lucy cast another sharp glance her husband’s way. Josh could tell exactly what she was thinking — the pink flush in her cheeks provided corroboration — and it made his manhood hard as a rock.

‘And this guy doesn’t need to take the medication anymore?’ Josh said, feeling his stiff cock twitching at the thought of Lucy going out to see other men before coming back to him after she’d slept with them.

‘No,’ Dr Clary confirmed. ‘They’d gotten to a stage in the program where the medication had almost made it seem as though the wife was sleeping with another man anyway. He behaved totally differently to her husband, after all. And her husband had no firsthand knowledge of what happened between them when he was on the medication. No memory of what had happened after the fact. But he woke up enjoying the feeling that his wife had enjoyed a night with someone else.’

There was a moment of silence where Josh looked over to Lucy, who appeared to be doing her utmost to appear calm and avoid immediately concluding that they should be doing the same thing.

It was like she didn’t want to pressure her husband, though he could tell she was burning up inside at the thought of being allowed to see other guys.

It excited Josh, too, though it scared him at the same time.

If there was a Tyler out there in real life, a Tyler who really wasn’t him. A powerful guy who went on dates with Lucy and satisfied her in bed — and then she came home to tell Josh all about it afterward. How would he feel about that?

His cock was throbbing in his pants, his heart was thumping hard.

Dr. Clary said, ‘The husband stopped taking the pills, and they found someone on one of the dating websites who went out on a few dates with the wife and, when she was ready, initiated a sexual relationship with her. And since the wife kept her husband involved closely — having him help her prepare for her dates, keeping him in the loop while the dates were proceeding, and then engaging with him intimately after the conclusion of her dates… well, it had all of their needs satisfied.’

Josh could see his wife’s deep breathing, and when she looked at him, clearly trying to suss out how he was feeling about all this, her pupils were so dilated it almost looked as though her eyes were black, not blue.

He said to the therapist, ‘So you think this is the kind of thing we should be doing? So I can stop taking these pills…?’

Dr Clary folded his arms. ‘I’m not here to tell you what to do. I’m just letting you know that some other couples that have been in your position considered what it was about the drug that particularly worked for them and found ways to do that without the pills.’

Josh and Lucy just looked at each other for a while, trying to do what Dr Clary suggested.

Then the therapist broke the silence, saying, ‘Josh, what is it you most liked about taking the medication?’

Josh gazed into his wife’s beautiful blue eyes and, after a moment or two, said, ‘I like… well… when I take the pill, I know that my wife’s going to have a good time. She’s going to have really good sex. She’s going to be happy and satisfied. And I don’t feel pressured to achieve that.’

Dr Clary nodded. ‘Good… okay, that’s nice. You love your wife; you want her to be satisfied, to feel good. But I want to know what you most liked, Josh. The top line, the most selfish reason you can think to take this pill. Never mind Lucy. What drives you to take that pill more than anything?’

Josh had to think for a few moments.

The therapist clarified, ‘Don’t worry about offending anyone or appearing selfish. And there’s no need to be embarrassed about anything you feel or think. This is a judgment-free zone. Just tell us the most self-centered reason you can think of for continuing to take this medication.’

Josh nodded and flushed a little. As he gazed into Lucy’s face, she gave him a gentle, sweet smile, reassuring him, letting him know it was okay to do as Dr Clary said. To think purely selfishly.

Josh said, ‘When I take that pill… it’s like someone else is coming in to sleep with Lucy… and that’s so hot. Because I have no knowledge of it, no memory of it, it feels like it’s some other guy she’s with… and that turns me on like crazy.’

Lucy was flushed with excitement and beaming ear-to-ear as she gazed into her husband’s face.

Josh went on, ‘And when I wake up in the morning… I know I get to have her myself… and imagining that she’s had some wild night with another guy… just makes me want her so badly…’

Dr Clary nodded, attempting to remain impassive to everything being said. ‘Good,’ he said. ‘Well done for opening up. Now it’s Lucy’s turn.’

‘Right,’ Lucy said, looking a touch self-conscious.

‘Remember, there’s no judgment here,’ Dr. Clary reminded her. ‘You can’t be embarrassed about anything in this room; that’s our rule. I want you to try to think as selfishly as possible. Don’t be a saint; don’t try to be magnanimous, gracious, considerate. Think about yourself. What is it about your husband taking those pills that most gets you going?’

Lucy looked at Josh, her hands clamped on the sofa cushion as though it could take the awkwardness away.

‘When he takes one of those pills,’ she said, ‘I guess… I guess it’s like I know I’m going to be with this gorgeous guy who is so incredible in bed…’

Dr Clary sensed that even after his encouragement, Lucy was sugar-coating it. He said, ‘Don’t try to avoid hurting your husband’s feelings here. Your husband’s feelings cannot be hurt; I won’t allow it. When your husband is on the medication, you’re of the belief that he has suddenly gained powers to be incredible in bed?’

Lucy blushed a deep crimson and flashed an apologetic glance her husband’s way. Then she said softly, ‘It’s like he’s a different person. So when he takes that pill… I can be a different person… I can let go and just… you know… go crazy. And it’s like I’m having sex with someone who isn’t my husband, you know? It feels so naughty. And sexy. And I know I’m going to be fucked so hard. And then when the drug wears off… I’ll have my Josh back… and he’s actually happy I had such good sex, even though he doesn’t know anything about it… and he wants me so badly, and it feels so good when he’s so gentle and sweet…’

Dr Clary nodded. ‘There. So we really have got to a stage where you’re both motivated by this medication for different reasons — but compatible reasons. And I think we can see the obvious solution to maintain the core of your joint adventure without using the medication.’

There was another moment where Josh and Lucy just gazed into each other’s eyes, as though daring each other to be the one to say it.

At last, it was Josh who spoke. ‘We find Lucy a date,’ he said. ‘A boyfriend.’

As he said it, Lucy quietly gasped, putting a hand over her mouth.

Josh took a deep breath, feeling his stiff cock throbbing in his pants once again. He said, ‘Lucy spends the night with somebody else — someone she’s really attracted to, someone who is really good in bed. And then when she’s done… in the morning, or whatever… she comes back to me… and tells me everything that happened…’

The therapist didn’t seem even slightly surprised by Josh’s answer. He wasn’t horrified, he wasn’t scornful, he wasn’t judgmental. He merely offered a relatively neutral but supportive smile and a gentle nod of his head.

Dr Clary said, ‘That would appear to be the logical next step for the two of you.’

Lucy said, ‘You’d really want me to… see someone else? To sleep with another man?’

Josh shrugged, ‘If I think of you… having fun with some guy… I don’t know… some guy from Tinder… or some guy you met in a bar. Some guy from work. As long as it’s just for fun, what harm would there be? As long as you still want me as well.’

‘Of course I’d still want you as well,’ Lucy insisted.

Both of them seemed so nervous. Exhilarated by this path forward — but still nervous. Shaking a little, feeling a slight chill though it was a perfectly climate-controlled space.

Dr Clary said, ‘This is good. This is progress, wouldn’t you say?’

Lucy nodded. ‘And you wouldn’t feel… jealous?’

Josh shrugged again. ‘I don’t think so. I mean… if you came home and said you loved him… you wanted to move in with him… I might feel jealous.’

Lucy smiled. ‘So we find someone I won’t fall for… I mean… you know… some guy in the gym who’s all muscles…’

Josh grinned. ‘You’d like that, huh? Some guy with bulging muscles…?’

Dr Clary said, ‘The important thing is for you both to communicate well at all times — and to set agreed boundaries. Boundaries over which neither of you steps.’

‘Boundaries,’ Lucy agreed, taking hold of her husband’s hands as though pledging to abide by whatever boundaries he accepted.

She was jiggling up and down a little — and he knew it was because she was so horny. It made him want to get her upstairs and bury his face between her thighs.

Josh gave her a powerfully affectionate smile, full of love. ‘I think we could make this work.’
