Many cultures determine symbolism and meaning behind objects based on how they see the object in its natural state. Japanese and Native Americans, in particular, have a strong connection to the Maple tree.
My husband and I were miniature golfing with our son before we adopted him, and a maple leaf made its way onto the green. The way it entered the scene, I felt it was special. I picked up the leaf and saved it. I later looked into the meanings assigned to the maple leaf. I wrote down some of what I found and sent it to my son when he was in college (faded in the framed pictured above). He is now working across the country, and the leaf is still with me…so today, I will send him a picture of our leaf to remind him of this connection and message.
