“Mama’s Baby Daddy’s Maybe”
9/11/2021 the 20yr Anniversary of 9/11!
I will never forget!
My sister calls our brother and me on a three way cell call to tell us the news!
She and I had different centimorgans or whatever it is called?
I said so you been on ancestry.com all these years looking for ….?your ancestry?
I remember her mentioning something to me year or so maybe few years back but I told her you have to tell me what is what!
She says we are half siblings?
She text a photo of her bio dad.
I say nothing, our brother says you look just like this man and your older son has his skin color!
I am 61 years young hearing this, brother is 49 years old, sister is 55 years old!
She says she got so far on ancestry and a 1st cousin reached out to her on her bio dad side.
The 1st cousin also had a different bio dad and wanted my sister to know the truth so she knew who her paternal bio relatives were/are.
The cousin asked how my sister was treated as a child growing up? My sister said daddy was her daddy, read to her, good father to her she was treated well.
Her 1st cousin says she was not treated so well by her bio dad, difference made in the kids in her family.
My sister tells. Brother and me that when she was little 2 of my daddy’s sisters use to say when we were at grandma (my paternal grandmama) that is not my daddy child! How terrible for a child to hear from adults! But until 9/11/2021 I knew nothing of this.
I said, I remember grandma saying, when I asked about an aunt with 3 sons with 3 different dads, “mama’s baby daddy’s maybe!”
My sister said she did not look like us! I said she looked like mama. Maybe she looked liked other ancestors.
I got a few blanks filled in.. our parents had separated when I was little, mama moved to start a new life and divorce daddy but her mama/big mama talked her into going back to him and daddy was putting away his “Papa was a rolling stone status” to save his marriage to mama.
So child #3 born to our mom and dad nothing ever said was my dad’s child!
Well, everyone taking this to their grave until sister Daisy researching on ancestry.com and other such sites looking for her truth!
So brother Lewis and sister Crystal/me are siblings by our mother to sister Daisy.
Daisy’s bio dad 1st cousin let her know she had been around her relatives all her life but she did not know it!
So when folks say they takes things to their grave they do cause that is what a cousin said when Daisy asked if she knew?
Wow!
When and how old did you find out you are a half sibling, not a sibling?
We grew up in a household that took other relatives in and helped them!
We were the kool-aid house in the neighborhood that kids knew they could come to for a hot meal, watched after if their parents were gone, safety!
I never had a clue or “revelation/ profound revelation” till 9/11/2021 about siblings!
