Make Your First $500 on Poshmark
A Step by Step How to Guide

So you wanna make money on Poshmark but you don’t know where to start?
Poshmark is an online fashion website where people can resell clothes, accessories and shoes. Its also home to kids toys, home décor and pet supplies.
In the three months I’ve been on the platform, I have made $2,500. The majority of my listings are items from my own closet.
It is not the only selling platform I am on; nor is it my best performing. But it’s worth it.
Here is a step-by-step guide to reaching your money-making goals.
Researching Comps
Example: I want to sell Tory Burch Black Flats
I look that up in search. Then filter by availability. Sold Items

You can filter by condition, which I recommend since there is a big difference between new and used sold prices.

As you can see in the image above, these are sold prices for Tory Burch black flats. If you know the name of the model, you can put that in search. Or you can scroll till you find the same model as the one you have.
Poshmark also just released a new tool that suggests prices based on sold listings.

Now, this is an important step. Price Higher!
Poshmark strategy is to price high and send steep discounts. Buyers do not get out of bed for 10% off.
Poshmark requires you to send a shipping discount when you send offers. I personally send either 20–30% off discounts and do a $5.99 shipping discount. I price much higher than I want to make to allow for these discounts.
For example, if I want to sell for around $20, I would price at $35. Buyers have come to expect deals on Poshmark.
Shipping
I recommend starting with items in your own closet. This allows you to have zero startup costs and gain some capital.
You can get free priority mailing supplies from USPS. Posh allows flat rate and priority mailers to be used. Expedited supplies are not allowed.
Poshmark has flat rate shipping for under 5lbs. So heavier items can be cheaper to sell on Poshmark than eBay. Ebay is better for lighter items under 1lb.
Be careful with bundles. Poshmark labels are only good for up to 5lbs. You will have to upgrade and pay more money if it’s heavier. That will eat into your profits. You can not send anything over 10lbs.
I highly recommend cross-listing to other sites. I sell the most on eBay. They have a much wider audience. However, some stuff sells better on Poshmark. Both platforms have their own audience.
Photography and Listing

When taking photos, make sure you get all angles. I like to use at least 6 photos but you can post up to 16.
Have a blank background free of any distractions. Most sellers prefer white backgrounds.
Make sure to clean your items before listing — no hair or wrinkles.
There are apps where you can edit your photos. These can remove your background and give you a professional white background.
Buyers want items that seem clean and to buy from sellers that seem professional.
Listings should describe all flaws.
Poshmark descriptions are searchable! You can put keywords into your description and buyers can find the item that way.
Popular keywords are vintage, Y2K, retro, 90’s inspired.
Sharing your Listings
You have to share your listings in your closet. This allows your item to go to the top of search. This gives that product more chances for buyers to see it.
Sharing other people's listings however, is not necessary. It doesn’t do anything for your own listings.
I recommend sharing your closet at least 3 times a day.
Being a Poshmark ambassador does not do anything for sales. So I would not recommend putting the energy into becoming an ambassador.
Spend your time listing. Try to list at least one item a day.
Thanks for reading and good luck selling!
